Re: So Crossfit Football Combine....

The record from the combine is 51 reps, or do you mean the most done at a cert?

Re: Who here has a 300+ C&J ?

I watched Jon Markovich hit a 295 lb power clean during the 6th of 6 workouts in two days at last year's OC Throwdown, in running shoes with pretty crappy-looking technique and almost no dip, let...

Re: Box & vertical Jump

10.5' is a pretty damn good broad jump. That's just shy of what Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush got at the NFL combine.

As for the box jump and vertical jump, there's a pretty damn big difference....

Re: Future of Crossfit gyms

CrossFit Havoc here in Lawton, OK has an entirely open gym. It's open 8 hours a day (but closed on Sundays) and you can come in whenever you want with no formal classes, though there's always a...

Re: ANOTHER POLL- power clean ratio/deadlift

255 lb PC / 375 lb DL = 0.68

I don't know why it's that high. I can't do a full clean with anywhere near that weight because my balance at the bottom is terrible and I fall over, so it isn't great...

Re: What's Your Max Height Box Jump?

My all-time PR was 66" in high school at a height of 6'2", with a two-step approach. I was never really a freak leaper (could throw down a two-handed dunk, but barely), but I was extremely flexible...

Re: Pull-up/Push-up Question

If you got into the academy, don't you have three years or so to get acclimated to the altitude before your PFT score actually counts for something?

Re: Perfect SS Diet

No. I can't drink milk. I can tolerate a little bit with lactase supplementation, but nowhere near a gallon and certainly not two.

It's possible I'm wrong to think it can be done. For the record,...

Re: Rowing times of crossfit athletes

Certain activities are more dependent on anthropometry and technique than others. There's a reason rowing teams require you to be tall to join, and there's a reason they train specifically to row....

Re: Too much of a good fat?

Almonds are a little rich in omega-6, and polyunsaturated fats in general aren't necessarily the best if they're making up too much of your total fat profile. They oxidize easily because of the less...

Re: Perfect SS Diet

I don't personally agree that it's difficult to do it eating "clean," because if you count milk as clean, you can always drink more and you can always eat more meat. Doing a gallon of milk and two...

Re: Paleo Blog Day 1

If they provide bulk half and half and you can tolerate dairy (there's very little lactose in it anyway; it's almost all fat), you might want to consider drinking that. It can add a lot of calories...

Re: All the bread, pasta and rice you want!!

I don't get why everyone is up in arms about this. One of the ironic tragedies of human evolution is that we're poorly adapted to metabolizing a staple item that allows us to efficiently feed huge...

Re: My current plan

Deadlifts and o-lifts are probably not logistically possible for a group in the Ft. Carson gym (they're hard for an individual in the Ft. Carson gym). I can understand not including them and it's...

Re: Two WODS a day

I may be the only one this bothers, but if you're doing more than one a day, it isn't a WOD any more. CrossFit Football's use of "Daily WOD" is likewise as redundant as "ATM machine" or "PIN number."

Re: Leg Strength in preperation for ruck marches

I personally had the best foot care success wearing smart wool mountaineering socks (with liners). They're pretty thick (obviously, as they're designed for cold weather), but I stopped getting...

Re: question "crossfit rxd" diet

I've been thinking about that a bit lately. I'm not the biggest fan of paleo re-enactment, but it stands to reason that it makes some difference what your specific descent is. Middle eastern and...

Re: Struggling with what to do AFTER 30 day Paleo challenge..

My diet isn't paleo. It's informed by evolutionary principles, but I don't really care whether an actual pre-agricultural person ever ate what I eat. That said, my only goal with it is to live a long...

Re: question "crossfit rxd" diet

I went ahead and decided to log since I hadn't for a while (I don't really intentionally reach for any particular calorie or ratio target) and have apparently been around 65/30/5...

Re: how long do real life situations last?

I doubt subcutaneous fat is protective against crushing injuries, but it is protective against slashing knife wounds and cold-water immersion.

I'd think the difference between survival and death in...

The most prolific and effective killers in human history have not necessarily been the physically fittest people or even the best at close-quarters unarmed combat. If your goal is to be a better...

Re: Consuming calories, how many do you?

I'm not saying it'll hurt you. It's just too filling without having many calories because it's so lean, though I suppose that depends somewhat on the cut. Wouldn't recommend it for someone trying to...

Re: Sectional WoD's Upto date.

I don't know if other sectionals did this, but the SoCal sectional involved running stadium stairs, which you won't be able to duplicate. I'm willing to bet it was a little harder doing cleans,...

Re: Functional Movements/Strength vs. Bodybuilding???

I think there is a lot of misunderstanding of bodybuilding in the CrossFit community that derives directly from Greg Glassman's conflating of 130 lb kids in the globo doing bench and curls on a...
