Re: Is Rich Froning the next Lance Armstrong?

That's a very old quote and stems from the time where the claim also was 'mainpage is all you need'. A seperate strength program, a seperate oly lift program, etc. were all deemed superfluous.

Every...

Re: 2014 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

IMHO if you get rid of the skills like handstand walks and technical lifts like the snatch, and put the focus on running, swimming and lifting heavy objects, you'd have a competition better suited...

Re: Has anyone built a size that looks like you lift via crossfit?

Bodybuilding training does not get you 'bodybuilding big.' To achieve that look training is just a part of it. And it's not the most significant part either.

Hypertrophy is the result of damaging...

Re: Regional Competitor - "CF is not a Sport"

Funny how you seldom hear the top competitors that are there year in year out competing in the toughest regions complain about the judging.

Yes there is human error. If you are good enough you will...

Re: Transgender Games Competitor?

Or she fully identifiies as a female but had concerns about the **** storm it would possibly release, so decided to be upfront about it all.

Re: Creatine for Sustained Gains?

Maybe it's because I'm not a native speaker, maybe it's because you're grammatically uptight.. but am I really that hard to understand?
Using supplements is not a big deal at all is what I'm trying...

Re: Creatine for Sustained Gains?

No. The whole concept of justification regarding supplements escapes me. I don't need to justify the use of a nail clipper yet it makes my life a little bit easier.

Re: Creatine for Sustained Gains?

I really see no need to justify supplement use. They simply make life a little bit easier. But to say you need them to support your regiment is a bit of a stretch. Plenty of hard training athletes...

Re: Can I build muscle with CrossFit?

If your sole purpose is to build muscle than you're better off working just on getting stronger on big barbell movements (squats, presses, rows, deadlifts, etc) and making sure you eat enough.

Re: Westside doesn't work for raw, huh?

It's pretty much the form I see most olympic lifters use. He is moving very fast which to me just means he is using a weight he can handle with relative ease. I really, really like this way of...

Re: Protein Shake Before Bed

There used to be the idea that you have to eat at very frequent intervals (2 to 3 hours) to prevent catabolism. Some people even would get up in the middle of the night to down a protein shake. If...

Re: Food/recipe and general fat loss help

What it comes down to is figuring out what your caloric needs are and create a small deficit from that if your goal is fat loss.

I eat pretty much the same amount of food everyday and follow a...

Re: Food/recipe and general fat loss help

Well your experience may differ but in my experience no.

Working towards a single goal (ie lose fat or gain muscle) is much more effective than trying to achieve the holy grail.
There is a reason...

Re: Food/recipe and general fat loss help

Saying you don't need to be in a caloric deficit to burn fat is exactly the same as saying you can consume more energy than you need and burn fat. Technically true but not relevant to Joses goal at...

Re: Food/recipe and general fat loss help

Of course the caloric amount needs to taken in account! Seriously I wonder where the common sense is sometimes. If you consume more energy than you use where do you think that energy is going to go?...

Re: How thorough is the crossfit games drug testing? Surely some athletes are doping

The use of PEDs is incredibly wide spead. Just look at any bodybuilding board on the web and see the ratio of posts in the drugs section vs the other sections. Most of these people are not...

Re: How thorough is the crossfit games drug testing? Surely some athletes are doping

With games "season" I include the regionals. The regionals are start in may, the games end in july. That gives you roughly 8 months to do whatever you want.
