The goal (as i see it) is to set a PR every time. so I tend to lean more towards the side of the 1st method, more of progressive loading, with the aim of a PR try on set 6 and 7. But I'm not opposed...

I would think that exaggerating the negative portion of the rep on jumping pullups would go a long way to building more strength in the movement, much like negatives on anything else.

I wouldn't worry to much about your body breaking down muscle in this instance. Think about it, soldiering through workouts like this will quickly raise your capacity for MetCon work....
