Re: Good WOD lists

Also, here is a list from Gant Grimes Hybrid Program, which I am not really that familiar with, but I like having some short heavy WODs to go to when the spirit moves me.

Good WOD lists

Hi All,

I have grabbed a few really good lists that people have compiled of their "Favorite WODs", or "Bodyweight WODs" or "Short Met-Cons", etc, etc.

I thought starting a post where people...

Re: How is Crossfit scientific?

Dimitri (the OP) is asking all the right questions in my view. Those of you who are saying "well it works for me" must have fell asleep during the "scientific method" lesson in High School. I am...

Re: Is CrossFit Really A Sport?

I am going to recant my first statement. I am sitting here philosophizing on these things. I am that bored. OR at least avoiding the work I need to do.

I do agree that skill mastery things...

Re: Is CrossFit Really A Sport?

But katherine, do you or do you not think that the lineman has less control than a weighlifter stepping up to the platform. Doesnt really get to the "sport" question, but thats what I was saying.

Re: Is CrossFit Really A Sport?

Yeah, Matthew just made me feel dumb with his short reply. If its competition and its physical then I guess it is a sport.

Re: Is CrossFit Really A Sport?

Yes, sorry for the wide open question. Not very refined. I guess I am driving towards a distinction between "reaction" sports as a kind of labeled them in my initial post and sports that are based...

Is CrossFit Really A Sport?

I watched the CrossFit movie, "Every Second Counts", a few weeks ago, and I notice the mention of "The sport of fitness" a few times. Its obviously said on this site quite often too.

I have...

Re: the comparative merits of olympic and power lifting

Off topic, but I had to respond to his

rightly so. I LOVE crossfit, and find oly lifting impressive, but I would much rather see a linebacker spear a quarterback any day. Good weightlifters...

Re: "Hansen"

I was curious as to what form people had on this for the GHDs. If you go by the reach back with one arm and touch the floor, it is a bit more of an *** kicker. As opposed to just going back with...

Re: Fast, easy, cheap way to get protein for snacks?

I don't know about the ratios, but Edamame is packed with complete protein, I get it roasted. Although I think it has some carbs.

Beef Jerky - although some people throw a fit about the...

Re: "Hansen"

Amen!!!

It's been a long time since I've scaled a WOD, or just had that horrible "i'm gonna quit" feeling.

Hansen did that and then some. I gutted it out at 41:00 mins. I felt like a big...

Re: Qualifiers WODs

Yeah, I know you can go through that site, but I thought it would be good to compile them all here for everyone. Add to the fact that some of those regional qualifier sites are very "bloggish" and...

Okay, here is the Great Basin WODs. So we've got Mid Atlantic, Great Basin, and SoCal (Except I'm not sure if there were 3 or 4 Wods for the SoCal?...

Qualifiers WODs

I have liked the qualifier WODs. I have incorporated them into my training when possible.

However, I am lazy and don't want to look all of them up, so if someone would holla back with what I am...

Re: Upping the Weight on Met-Cons

yeah, the reference to xfit football goes to my point. I have heard others say that a football player may need to up the weights for the WODS. What would be the harm in a typical crossfitter doing...

Upping the Weight on Met-Cons

Just a theory, and I believe I have heard this discussed before on X-fit, but what do you all think of increasing weight on some of the MetCons. I'm thinking of the benchmarks with standard weight. ...

Re: Am I over doing It?

If this training schedule is in any way effecting your ability to pick-up women and/or drink beer from time to time, then yes you are overdoing it.

Re: CrossFit w/o ME (or low rep) days

To clarify . . . .

I knew I would get the 30-40 year olds after me when I say that I don't see myself maintaining heavy lifts in the future, even though I am 25 - I didn't mean to make it sound...

Re: Man evolved as a long distance runner?

I'm not trying to stir the waters, but the logic behind the zone/paleo is that our caveman buddies didn't have processed carbs, or any other processed foods. I'm not a big fan of distance running,...

CrossFit w/o ME (or low rep) days

All,

Just wondering if anyone out there tries X-fit without doing the ME (or low rep) strength days. I am just frankly getting tired of going in and busting a *** on total days and any other...

Re: Yoga

I don't really have any hard data, but I was doing "hot yoga" (Bikram Yoga) for a while, once or twice a week, and I don't know that it neccesarily helped my crossfitting, but it made me less sore,...

Re: The true top male CrossFitter.

With Speal's bodyweight, he is a frickin animal. I don't really quite understand why no one takes his BW ratio into account on this. I know you can't really do it at the games, and by CrossFit...
