Re: Stance width for DL
Nitpicking, but KK has competed @ 275# and 308# weightclasses, so his 900+ pulls are not 4X BW :).

Re: can u lend me ur motivation?
Lifting is a lot easier to do than metcons at a globo. Focus on a legit lifting program instead of CF mainpage if strength is one of your goals. For metcons, just do couplets/intervals etc. Chippers...

Re: Stalled press progress
On multi rep sets, breathe at the top versus with the barbell on your shoulders, so you use the stretch reflex (like bench press). Make sure your glutes and abs are engaged and tight (so you are not...

Re: Back Squat Check
The advantages of low bar are more posterior chain recruitment. If your athlete is a desk sitter (or has been sedentary), she likely lacks posterior mobility and strength. Increasing this will also...

Re: Front squat form check, please
Copied from other thread:
You do not sit back in a front squat, that is a CrossFit screw up in the way the squat is taught. It is impossible to sit back in a front squat as the bar must remain...

Re: Olyside barbell?
That's what I was referring to, the conditioning work (aka CrossFit) is using up a lot of energy (so is the lifting of course). You eat food to replace this energy (broadly speaking). If you do less...

Re: Olyside barbell?
Wow, I must be blind and didn't realize you were in Canada, that is great to hear that there is hopefully some traction with WL, at least at your school.
With the volume of training you are doing,...

Re: Olyside barbell?
You are inbetween the current 77kg and 85kg weightclasses at 6'2", that is not optimal at all for weightlifting. At 6'2" you should be a superheavy (over 105kg), but I doubt you want to make that...

Re: snatch form?
You aren't getting tight (and shooting the hips) so you are going to lose a ton of power transmission. Get your back arched as tight as possible, squeeze chest up, big breath then move the bar. Keep...

Re: Starting Elbow Position Push-Jerk Vs. C&J
There is no difference in position, a jerk is a jerk and the start is the same (power vs. split), some lifters may do a press with lower elbows. Also, lfters prefer to jerk with elbows more forward,...

Re: difficulty doing OHS
If you are at a box, what does the coach that you are paying $100-200/month suggest? As others have said above, work on the air squat/back squat/goblet squat first to fix hip/ankle mobility issues,...

Re: Cure for Too Tight for Good Rack Position
This one works well. You can kind of do it on your own one arm at a time, but the twisting makes it much less effective.
Don't bother with cleans for now, do front squats only until you can keep a...

Re: Elite Fitness
By definition, the lifting programs I mentioned are done at a high intensity (the programs as a whole). Functional is a word I find meaningless, but I would say the core lifts are functional at...

Re: Strength experiment
The problem is that it will be hard to measure progress since the reps will be influenced by how well rested/recovered you are, it can get confusing, just following SS will better serve your stated...

Re: Elite Fitness
This has been rehashed many times, but how can you say that strength training on a planned program (be it SS, 5-3-1, Smolov etc) with some conditioning work is CF? By that definition, everything is...

Re: Programming On My Own In College?
Just do 5/3/1 and add some conditioning work on top (there are threads on this and I believe Wendler discusses it in the 5-3-1 book). Conditioning work isn't rocket science, do hill runs,...
