Re: Power Cleans

I'm actually not as bothered by your elbows as some of the others- but a nice drill to fix that is to perform sets of 2, where rep 1 is a clean pull and rep 2 is a clean

That aside, it would...

Re: Deadlift: Snatch grip vs. Overhand

Agreed- for me even a 500Lb pull comes nowhere close to challenging my grip with hook

Re: York GHD

I so agree with Jamie's sentiment here. I own a GHG myself, but it only gets used when other standing/barbell drills are not possible, which isn't often.

As I look over the scope of my 25+ years...

Re: What excercise makes you puke everytime?

The objective of training is not to push to the limit. The goal is to exceed (by any margin, but preferably slight) your previous best performance. Then continue to do this over and over again.

Re: My clean has plateaued ... help!

Currently my best power clean is 112kgs, and my best deadlift is 227kgs.

Sounds like you need a bigger deadlift, at least until we get videos from you.

Re: addressing deadlift weakness.

Edgar, you simply need to enforce correct technique each and every time, with all weights. If you can keep your lumbar spine in extension on light weights, in time you'll be able to do with with...

Re: Diet on a Budget

Hey I'm late to the party but why do people always assume that being a former SEAL, or having been on TV means you know how to eat or train?

The guy is a tool, and you have a lot of very...

Re: Lost Battalion, Queens, NY

LBH has produced, and is still producing, a lot of great lifters— probably the best lifting environment in the NYC area to my knowledge

Re: Squat Clean form check, slow motion

While I agree with Lincoln, I'd particularly like to see your shoulders in front of the bar as it passes your knees. This is the core error in my mind. Not bad though- nice work

Re: Back squat critique

Id be worth experimenting with more external rotation of the femur (angle feet out more) and force knees OUT when you sit. Gives the knees somewhere to go other than straight forward

It'd be...

Re: Fittest proffesional sports athlete

Correct, we disagree here- "Fitness" means "readiness," simple as that. With that in hand, the next question is "Ready for what?"

The above doesn't preclude a generalized answer to the question...

There literally is no answer to this question- fitness depends on context

Re: 19 year old American snatches 200kg, clean 230kg etc.

On his You Tube channel, his coach told me (something to the effect of) "Why would he want to spend all that money for travel expenses, etc., just for a medal?"

Didn't make sense to me either...

Re: 19 year old American snatches 200kg, clean 230kg etc.

Re: Power clean check

The primary thing that comes across is your set up, or lack thereof- on rep 2, you start your pull almost before the bar stops bouncing from the first drop. Take a few moments and get set before you...

Re: Cleans and wrist stress

Well, in my case, all 10 gingers are on the bar, although I'm only on my fingertips as it were. Sometimes (and it's not a problem unless you also want to jerk the bar) your pinkies (or worse) will...

Re: Vegas Baby Vegas

No worries Frank, I obviously know what he means...my question referred to the rationale, not the definition. Just struck me as an oxymoron.

Appreciate you watching my back!
