Re: I don't even know what to title this thread...

Can we at least agree that WOD's should not needlessly endanger the lives of infants? Is that really too much to ask? And is it really too much to ask HQ not to endorse and glorify parents who...

Re: I don't even know what to title this thread...

Let's not forget the first mistake, which was needlessly endangering a baby's life doing overhead squats. Question: how did he get in position to do that while holding the baby?
And yeah, if the...

Re: I don't even know what to title this thread...

HQ should have revoked their franchise. CF has no business allowing these folks to be affiliated with CF. Allowing them to continue to use the CF name is the same as endorsing the behavior. Time to...

Selling my kettlebells to fund the purchase of competition-style KB's.

I have:

One Dragondoor "Russian Red" 24KG (53lb - 1.5 pood). Has some minor dings to the paint job but basically in great...

Proper forum to sell KB

Hi folks. I'm switching to competition-style kettlebells. Was wondering what the proper forum to post my "wts" ad would be, if any. Didn't want to post the announcement without checking first. So,...

Re: Any girevoy sport folks here?

I also suggest the ********* forum. It is not WFS, so I did not post a link, but if you google "*********" you will find it.
The forum at *** can be very rude and expletive-laden, but many excellent...

Re: Can you get strong with kettlebells?

Well, I'm sure there are other ways to get strong in one or two movements faster than training only with KB's. But here's why I use them: working out approximately 10-12 minutes a day I can push-mow...

Re: Training for Ultimate Frisbee

Now that's not fair. Smoking doobies was usually alternated with cross-training sessions of hacky sack.

Re: pood?

Steven, nice answer. I have to say, if I had happened upon this thread 7-8 years ago when I discovered crossfit I may not have come back.

Looking for gym with KB's in San Diego

Will be in San Diego in a couple weeks. Staying at the Omni hotel for seven days. Looking for a gym with KB's where I can work out. Focused on GS right now. Any suggestions? (I did not list this in...

Re: Kettlebells

If you are going the DD type KB route, I suggest the cap barbell brand available at Christian's Fitness Factory (they have an ebay store). They are by far the most KB for the money. By far.
I will...

Re: Kettlebells: RKC vs. AKC

I would give more detailed snatch instructions, but I don't really feel qualified to give detailed instructions as a novice. I will say this: Try to be relaxed as possible, and, as you are lifting,...

Re: Kettlebells: RKC vs. AKC

There are a number of people here more qualified than me to answer this, and I've been waiting on them to give you a better answer. While waiting on them, I can tell you that a few differences in the...

Re: Kettlebells: RKC vs. AKC

Well, I am a long time Pavel fan, and joined the DD forum in 2000. I started PTP that same year, and I think he is one of the best strength training authors ever. He literally changed my life.
That...

Re: Buying a kettlebell

Christian,

I got one of your 1 poods for longer sets this week. It is excellent; better than DD at a fraction of the price.

Re: Buying a kettlebell

Actually, what I'm referring to is how the bells don't hold chalk very well, and the shape of the handle (along with the thickness) aren't really conducive to long sets. Don't get me wrong, I have a...

Re: Buying a kettlebell

DD bells are well made, but they aren't really suited to high-rep training. The handle is very thick, and the ergonomics just aren't there for 10+ minute sets. I suggest the competition-style bells...

Do you have a crossfit related blog?

I've noticed quite a few crosfitters have blogs. For some reason I like visiting, I guess just for the reinforcement that we're not nuts, and reading the various success stories the blogs...

Re: Spinning/cardio: best practices?

Sounds like spinning is going well for you. I say, don't mess with a good thing. Scale crossfit to work around spinning, and not the other way around. As for the particulars, how you do that is up to...

Re: Role of Hypertrophy in STRENGTH Gain

I just don't see the point of hypertrophy training unless you are already exceptionally strong. Maybe if you have lost alot of muscle mass with age.
The thing about strength is, its a skill....

Re: First WOD as Rx'd

Thanks, Lenora. Today will be the big test. I got maybe 4 hours sleep last night for the second night in a row. My six-month-old often wakes us up in the middle of the night. Not alot we can do about...
