Re: My experiance with Madcow + Met-cons

I could be wrong (although I'm almost certain that I'm not), but I'm pretty sure you aren't supposed to start week 1 at your 5RM. Instead, you should be using something close to 90% of your 5RM to...

Re: I know I know constantly varied but…the program is the constant.

Then where are they?

Only cleaning once per week won't do much for the olympic lifts. And doing cleans and snatches with medicine balls, kettlebells, and dumbbells don't count.

Re: 1RM Calculators

Thanks for the input, everyone.

I don't really see any reason to test my 1RM. I'm following a linear progression on all my lifts, so I don't need a max to base percentages off of. I've been...

1RM Calculators

Does anyone here have experience with online 1RM calculators? If so, have you found them to be accurate. I came across this one yesterday: http://www.exrx.net/Calculators/OneRepMax.html (WFS). I...

Re: Whole Grain? Is it healthier than not?

It would take a ridiculous amount of abdominal hypertrophy for that to make a substantial difference.

Re: Why are my running times so bizarre? How can I improve?

I'll certainly give them a read. Unfortunately, I don't have time at the moment and won't have access to a computer for the next 8 days, so it will be a while.

I agree that there is benefit in...

Re: Why are my running times so bizarre? How can I improve?

Please just read the article I linked earlier. It explains your situation perfectly.

Re: Why are my running times so bizarre? How can I improve?

Yes, but his problem isn't speed; it is endurance. If he improves his aerobic capacity, he will actually be able to use his speed.

Let's say that, at this point, his body begins cranking up lactic...

Re: Why are my running times so bizarre? How can I improve?

Yes, by I assume that the army had you doing long (at least by crossfit standards) slower runs, not 4x800s. As you said, the OP doesn't have the "lungs." The reason his times drop off precipitously...

Re: Why are my running times so bizarre? How can I improve?

I doubt it has much, if anything, to do with your carb intake. Your problem is almost certainly that you lack an aerobic base. I know you said that you have been doing primarily LSD for the past few...

Re: Paleo questions

1. Not sure.
2. Most people use it as a "cheat" food.
3. Why do you have to eat at the movies?
4. What are your goals? Ex: get lean/gain weight
5. I'm thinking no

Re: Weightlifting shoes rationale?

That's like saying you don't want to lift with a barbell because you won't have to lift one in the "real world." IMO, whatever rational you deem fit to justify lifting with a barbell and symmetrical...
