Re: Weight Watchers goes Paleo?!
I went to one WW meeting a few years back to scope it out, and I came away shaking my head in bewilderment. Overall impression: A bunch of chubby (or fat) people sitting around talking about how...

Re: Yes. I'm Calorie Counting (OH NO!!!!)
:notworth:
That's inspiring! I was a size 34 in high school and I often wonder if I could ever get back there again.
I've heard myfitnesspal is also a great calorie counting app as well.
Well...

Re: Diet and Fat Loss
I second that. Whole grains will get me feeling full in a hurry, but the feeling does not last long and in short order I'll be hungry again.
Meat. It's what's for breakfast, lunch and dinner. ...

Inspiring blog and impressive story! Thank you for taking the time to share.

Yes. I'm Calorie Counting (OH NO!!!!)
This thread started off as a reply to Lisa in her thread, Fit By 40 (http://board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=63507), but I didn't want to hijack it, so I'm starting a new one. (That link is safe,...

Re: Cut 7 minutes off my marathon time...
Honestly I have no desire to be so thick with muscle that my BMI would put me in the obese range even with a low BFP. I've got no desire to be Hulk Hogan. What I'm striving for is the classic...

Re: Cut 7 minutes off my marathon time...
True. True. I'm way too early into all of this to be any sort of expert, but so far I'd say that a healthy balance of LSD + HIIT seems to be a good way to go.
Thanks! And I will. Next marathon...

Re: Cut 7 minutes off my marathon time...
Yes that's correct. I figured I was getting enough cross training with the CF WOD's that I didn't need to work in any other sports for the CFE WOD's.
(Edited after...) I should maybe add that I...

Re: Cut 7 minutes off my marathon time...
Ok, so I should amend my previous statement to say:
Still have a ways to go before I'm at an ideal body fat percentage (15% to go), but the journey so far has been fantastic!

Re: Cut 7 minutes off my marathon time...
Ah yes! I intentionally did not say. I'm still VERY slow and am hoping to break six hours on my next marathon :o
Is it? Ok... good to know. Why's that? I understand the whole...

I just finished marathon # 3, and I'd like to share some things that are noteworthy in a Crossfit setting:
While training this time I focused heavily on intervals (think Tabata's, CrossFit...

Re: Always Tired, Often Dizzy
Mike, great write up. Thank you.
I read all of "Fat Loss 101" and found it very helpful. So many of my friends still think cardio is the best way to burn fat, and they give me the "your nuts"...

To be honest, I still have a lot of weight to loose and I'd rather not slow the pace. Although as I get closer to the goal I expect the rate at which I'm loosing will taper...

Always Tired, Often Dizzy
I have been VERY happy with the fat I've been dropping and muscle I've been gaining since starting a mostly Paleo diet and CF WOD's six weeks ago. I'm down 14 lbs (from 250 to 236) and there is...
