Re: Military Boot Running

Don't lace the boots over the arch of the foot, skip the lace holes that would constrict the top of the foot and force the arch down.

Re: Westside Strength Gains?

Ben your topic is now a westside pros/cons topic you're just going to have to accept that :), anyway here is the basic westside template, how could a rank novice go...

Re: 20 rep squats - lower back pump?

That's probably your problem. I was shocked how little I was eating when I first started tracking my calories.

On SS you really need to eat a ton to get gains, like an absurd amount, much more than...

Re: Westside Strength Gains?

I don't hate westside, I will probably end up doing it at some point in my life when I have access to a proper coach.

My concern is rank novices looking westside up, getting overwhelmed with...

Re: Westside Strength Gains?

Based on what? I've seen guys hit a 500 DL and 405 BS in a little over 6 months on a basic SS program. I didn't believe until I saw a guy at my gym do it, he had the genetics and was a bigger dude...

Re: Westside Strength Gains?

The problem with LP in the military is you run, you run A LOT! Something like 531 may be better for someone in the military as the running won't kill your program like it would a basic linear...

Re: cannot squat past parallel, HELP!

I never said they did, point is olympic lifters seem to be pretty flexible while still wearing oly shoes, it doesn't seem to impede their flexibility much at all, nor do they see it as a crutch,...

Re: How to determine adequate back squat depth.

I know you said besides video tape but I would video tape at first, after you're hitting depth for a while you'll just know, for me right when my hammies are real tight I kind of bounce off them and...

Re: cannot squat past parallel, HELP!

put a 1 x 4 piece of wood under you heel and squat to depth, if it's easier get a pair of lifting shoes.

Your shoes are a minimalist running show not a weight-lifting shoe. They will work better...

Re: Why can't i get stonger!

I'm not all that strong so take this with a grain of salt, but for me it's about eating a lot more than you think you need to, track your calories. I was losing some weight when I first started 531,...

Re: Why can't i get stonger!

You probably just need to eat a bit more and strength train more consistently.

Re: Back Squat form check

+1 on squat looking high, forget the ball it probably isn't small enough to get you squatting to parallel, get a side view.

Re: "Barbell Squat: The Worst Exercise in Existence?"

If you want to get people talking and some face time in the lifting world you will call the barbell squat the stupidest exercise in existence.

By making this blog and article he's had thousands of...

Re: Getting Deadlift closer to Squat Numbers

I'm just amazed you squat 600+ lbs and have this question for us, I feel like I should be asking you how to get a 600 lbs squat.

Re: Weightlifting Shoes

Just wanted to completely take this review back, been using these shoes for over a year four times a week and they've held up and work perfectly, should get several more years out of them.

Re: TRT experience

I think if every 35 year old mans expectation is to feel and be able to train like he were 19 every single 35 year old would need TRT. We get old, cutting back training volume and dealing with...

I don't bemoan Bob for getting his test issues worked out if he had a legitimate health concern. But I hope that this thread doesn't have a bunch of otherwise healthy dudes aging naturally running...

Re: Max weight Deadlift - when to back off

On a max effort deadlift a little thoracic rounding is probably inevitable, but lumbar rounding I would drop it, live to lift another day.

Re: Going to have to put two push movements on consecutive days

I'm not sure the type of rep scheme and weights you're using but there is no way I could squat twice and deadlift once in only a four day span unless it was early in novice LP. You may be younger...

Re: Anyone else own a pair of WL shoes but no longer use them?

Some people allude to Crossfit being "cult like", Jim Jones of "The Peoples Temple" lead all his followers to a mass suicide by drinking spiked kool aid.

In the US "drink the kool aid" is synonymous...

Re: Anyone else own a pair of WL shoes but no longer use them?

Don't Olympic Weightlifters wear oly shoes? Like in the Olympics and competing not just a random lifter...

Just the right gear for the job IMO.

Re: What am I doing wrong??

I have to disagree with the advice to use the "so you think you can squat" video for learning how to squat. What guys who squat 1000+ lbs and train with mono-lifts, training partners, gear and...

Thanks for the feedback I've injured myself twice on squats so I'm treading really carefully. I want a 405 back squat by the end of summer, my current 1 RM is 345 (did it last week) @ my current...
