Re: Ways to recover
There's very few (legal) tricks that work effectively. The correct answer is to not do a workout that's beyond your capabilities, or that you know will leave you unable to function the next day....

Re: Crossfit for PFT improvement
Quantico weather won't exactly be balmy if you end up in a winter class for OCS or TBS and you'll still have to take PFTs. I'd suggest running outside anyways, or at least finding an indoor track for...

Re: 1 rm increases
Depends what your starting numbers were as well as your size.
If you're a 180lb man who started off deadlifting 250lbs and squatting 225lbs then no, an increase of 10lbs on one and 15lbs on the...

Re: Need a new Barbell
I've had the Rogue Power Bar for about a year and love it. I don't do any Olympic lifting due to space limitations in my garage but it's solid for the power lifts...I notice a little bit of bounce on...

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
Again, none of the business stuff has any impact on the "grassroots work" that you're talking about. If you want to be a functional fitness purist, you can coach people in your garage all day long...

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
I'm not sure what you mean by "this is what the scene has come to" because there's nothing to stop people from pursuing functional fitness on their own, or hosting small local competitions, or...

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
Doubtful, because I'm sure they see each other as competitors for a limited pool of sponsorships, athletes, and spectator eyeballs. Trying to coexist peacefully with business competitors is a good...

Re: Simple and sinister
Then you must be off on your calculations or your starting 1RM or training max or something. There's no way you could pull 19 or 26 reps with a training max that's truly 90% of your 1RM

Re: Simple and sinister
"19 reps of 320# deadlift"
Huh? I've done 5/3/1 for most of the last two years and have NEVER done those kinds of numbers. No wonder your maximal strength improvements were slow.

Re: Gslp
Same weight for all three sets, which means the first two sets obviously can't be your 5RM weight since you should be doing ~7-10 reps on your final set.

If so, can you get me a shipping quote to zip code...

Re: Have we all seen this yet?
Bad planning.
Start small, sell all your tickets, prove there's sufficient demand, then grow into bigger venues. The Games didn't move to the Home Depot Center until it was no longer feasible to...

Re: Burpees
100 in 5 minutes requires you to keep a 20 per minute pace, or 1 every 3 seconds. So start with 2-3 sets of 10 burpees in under 30 seconds each day then gradually add reps while extending your time...

Re: Sports Illustrated's 50 Fittest Athletes
I phrased it poorly. I meant that it's silly to criticize LeBron's strength or JJ Watt's cardiovascular endurance or say that's a sign they're "unfit" when their results clearly show that they're fit...

Re: Sports Illustrated's 50 Fittest Athletes
A basketball player doesn't need strength in the same way that a football player does, and excess muscle mass would likely hurt a basketball player's cardiovascular endurance. Someone like LeBron...

Re: Contracts & Cancellation Fees
Signing a contract of your own free will then denigrating the other party as "playing a game" for attempting to enforce it is an awesome way to ensure that no one ever takes your word seriously again.
