Re: Masters track and heavy metcons.

Don't know what those last two posts were about, but to go back to the original question: using metcons a couple of times a week in prepping for the track season is a great idea. I'm older than you...

Re: Muscle pulls during running

Scott,
It's unusual though not entirely unheard of, in my experience, to strain a hammie at the pace you went (10 min miles). It seems more likely you're re-injuring a previous injury that's not been...

Re: Total Daily Protein Requirements vs. Block Requirements

Stuart,
Remember you'll also be getting protein from other sources. Your almonds, peanuts, etc count as fat but contain significant protein. It may not be assimilated as well as protein from "protein...

Re: slowing down with age

Gary, Your father was probably referring to the age grading tables used in masters track and field to score multi events like heptathlon and decathlon. They can also be used to compare your results...

Re: Older crossfitter, timing and tempo

'Bottom line: old dogs can still run with the pack, but we need a bit more time sprawled out on the rug near the woodstove'

I love this line! Well said, Tom.

Re: Adjustments for age

In my opinion, Darrell's advice is very good--identify your primary goal. My other comment is to think about modification based on ability as opposed to age. Yes, you may may need more recovery than...

Re: Rheumatoid Arthritis

Holly,

The EPA and swim ideas are a very good place to start, it seems to me. I haven't any experience with rh arthritis, but I'd also suggest using the pool for exercises besides swimming, too....

Re: Anyone have and an ACL Reconstruction using an allograft??

I've had two allografts (thank-you donors!)--one for each leg. Recovery above the curve on the first one. (two years ago) Second one (now) at the curve except for patellar tendonitis, probably from...

Re: Serious question about breaking up cellulite

Brady,

Your Mom is just a bit older than me. I'm 58 1/2 and I think there are lots of folks our age doing CF. At CF Rochester there are several folks over 50, some who greatly modify and some who...

Good luck, Dick. I'm 4.5 months post-op and will be doing FGBIII tomorrow--and, yes, the first few weeks are the worst. For me the second week was the hardest.
My only advice is to get an experienced...
