Re: Bruised larynx?

Thanks for the feedback. It's like the worst self-induced sore throat ever. Ridiculous.

Bruised larynx?

So, this is a first. Caught a bar hard in the larynx on a squat clean this morning. Was fairly light weight (135#)...but somehow slammed it back hard into my throat during the catch. It hurt but...

Re: Advice on kettlebell swing

Tried to edit this...but no go. Actually, you are NOT in the bottom of a squat b/c you do not break parallel. This allows you to keep aforementioned muscle groups tight and loaded. Think of posing...

Re: Advice on kettlebell swing

Read the first 2 sentences of my post again. Granted the word "essentially" is a bit subjective but I'm trying to give the OP marks he may recognize or already have mastered. Tried to put emphasis...

Re: Advice on kettlebell swing

Think of doing an air squat with perfect form - essentially the same motion. Except now the energy from the "explosiveness" of your hips extending will radiate to your arms lifting the kettlebell...

Re: Snatch - Basic Rep Cycle

For clarity, in this type drill are you essentially starting in your squat stance (since feet would be static)? Like the idea, just want to make sure I'm following you correctly. Thanks!

Re: "paleo" - worth it or not?

I think going without meat is very different from moving to the prescribed CrossFit methodology for nutrition. If I don't eat steak for awhile, I have a similar response.

As far as studies go, I'm...

Re: "paleo" - worth it or not?

:yeahthat:

The way I recently had it explained during a Level 1 Trainer course is this: 30 days of essentially paleo ("garden vegetables, especially greens, lean meats, nuts and seeds, little...

Re: Suggestion for beginner footwear.

FYI-

Inov8 now has new F-lite Natural for wider feet. Old last is called Precision. From best I can tell it really seems to be a change in the toe box. The original fit (Precision) had a rather...

Re: what level does the rower be on?

:yeahthat:

You are your own lab and scientist here. Whatever allows you to cross the greatest distance the fastest while being efficient, is where you want to be. Begin the experiment in 3, 2, 1...

Re: Box T-shirt question.

Saul-

I called CustomInk yesterday. They were great to work with on the phone, and the rep sent me a recap of the quote via email shortly afterwards. They don't have a bulk/benchmark...

Re: An Open Letter to New CrossFit Coaches

Great stuff. Biggest take away I got from the Level 1 Trainer course, and likewise from your blog, is to stay teachable.

I think it speaks volumes to be 10 years in and still feel like there is...

Re: Suggestion for beginner footwear.

To the OP-

Much to consider when buying shoes - type of workout, shape/anatomy/volume of foot, prior injuries/deformities, build of the last, flexibility of user (especially calves), etc.

I'm...

Box T-shirt question.

Any folks out there find a comparable, price friendly shirt for their gym liken to the ever-so-popular, buttery soft American Apparel line?

Just looking for an affordable alternative...if it exists....

Re: New technique for teaching du's?

Christian-

Yeah, it could be a crutch...but I think a good coach would see that, and once positioning is maintained, remove the bands. Also, although the band helps elbow positioning, it is more...

New technique for teaching du's?

First, I apologize for the quality of this video. It was done hastily with my phone immediately after the 6am WOD today. As a result, I'm talking fast, mumbling...and I look like my mouth might be...

Re: Anyone battling recurrent vertigo?

Yes - had MRI (w/wo contrast). Meet with Neuro next week to go over results.

Wouldn't say the Meclizine is worthless, but I have noticed that if you don't start taking it at the very onset, you are...

Hi, Andy.

Yes - it was unsuccessful. That was one of the first indicators that they were dealing with something potentially neurological. For me (when experiencing vertigo), it's as intense being...
