Re: Which Paleo Book?

I have Primal Blueprint and Robb Wolf's book, The Paleo Solution. Personally I've enjoyed Robb's book better. The writing style in the Primal Blueprint was just too "fruity" for me; the whole...

I draw the line at 25 poops, 26 is just obscene.

Re: carbon fiber rings

How are you going to manufacture them? Braiding? Pre-preg carbon fiber on a mold? Vacuum bagging it? Something else?

As far as making them, I'd think you'd have it easier with wood and, without...

Re: carbon fiber rings

I don't use rings, but I can't imagine why anyone would need rings made of a carbon fiber. To me, it sounds like a selling point more or less to "wow" a customer.

I've worked with carbon fiber, but...

Re: New pill will make everyone Superman...or super gross

Could have great medical applications if they manage to make it work.

Re: A Question on SS and Stalling

Also is the 3x5 work sets for DL a typo? SS only prescribes 1 workset at 5 reps on the DL.

Re: SS vs. PM Mass Gain

I vote we leave personal beef out of it and stick to the question.

What's the PM mass gain program like in a nutshell?

Re: The death of conventional Squats?

I got the impression you were responding to Ryan's question of how the BSS isn't a fullbody exercise? Seemed like you were saying you weren't.

If that's not the case, then just ignore me :kicking0:

Re: The death of conventional Squats?

Yes, but that doesn't mean they're not a "full body" exercise.

Re: Usain Bolt Would Not Have Been able To Outrun Our Ancestors

You don't need to be a moderator to practice thread courtesy. Not that it matters at this point, as this thread has already degraded from an article discussion into, of all things, "who would win in...

Re: Definitions: Stamina, MetCon, Work Capacity,

They may or may not, it depends on what one is deficient in. For some, strength increases may increase their work capacity in a particular domain moreso than stamina, or vice versa, and so...

Re: Definitions: Stamina, MetCon, Work Capacity,

Is this necessarily true? An "area under the curve" approach would take into account the "domain," say, duration of the activity, and the average sustainable power outputs.

Increasing strength,...

Re: CrossFit Wichita Falls Programming

Obviously, it's dependent on the experience one has with the lifts. Rip (and Justin, I'm assuming) uses the low-bar position on squats, not sure if this has something do with it.

I took the comment...

Re: CrossFit Wichita Falls Programming

Why not try the program as written before you modify it? When you change it, it's no longer the program.

1. What's your current BS and FS? Your FS will most likely go up with your BS poundages.

2....

Re: CrossFit Wichita Falls Programming

Justin did address this. If I remember, it's no as the front squat mechanics will mess with the back squat mechanics he's trying to ingrain.

Re: the comparative merits of olympic and power lifting

Everyone says OLers do powerlifts. In a contest the snatch and clean & jerk are the competitive lifts. Anything else is accessory work.

So, why is powerlifting reduced to only the squat, bench, and...

Re: Strength Program Q's

Socks != barefoot. Try actual barefoot, you'll get more traction.

Weightlifting shoes are a great idea, too, and I prefer them over barefoot lifting.

Re: Exercise intensity and cognitive function

Besides the fact that mice were used, the relationship between intensity and cognitive function probably isn't linear.

Given the context it might not be because that weight training session was...
