Re: Indoor Rowing

I didn't see any list. Here's last year's results, I imagine it'll be pretty much the same: http://nwergomania.com/index.php/results/71-results-2009.html (WFS)

Re: Indoor Rowing

I'm 6' 225, definitely no lightweight ha. Just looking over the results from last year's ergomania I'd be solidly near the bottom, but not laughably so.

I started following a modified version of...

Re: Indoor Rowing

My current best 2k is 6:57, if i'm able to go on jan 30th I'm shooting for about a 6:45 or so. Nothing elite, but I don't think I'll be embarrassing myself either. I'm not sure if I'm setting the...

Indoor Rowing

Any of you WA area folks interested in an indoor rowing contest? Here's the website (WFS): http://nwergomania.org/

It's on January 30. I may not be able to make it, but if so it would be cool to...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

I did this the other day too doing cleans. Sitting there tired after one rep thinking "wow that was harder than I thought" and staring at the weights, it slowly dawned on me that I added/multiplied...

Re: competitive rowing times?

My best 500 is 1:29 and 2k is 6:57. I would like to hit the 1:20/6:20 times you mentioned. What kind of erg workouts would you suggest? I do mostly 500m intervals with a few mins rest in between. ...

Re: Increasing Vertical Jump

Sorry for this slight thread hijack, but I've played vball for about 20 years and i've always thought it weird that vball players are generally really skinny.

I know it's easier to jump when you...

Re: Increasing Vertical Jump

Yes, I agree with this 100%. Being able to pass and serve will keep her on the court, leading to better coaching/more competitive teams which will in turn make her better at passing and serving etc...

Re: College Football!!!!!

Yes, this made me somewhat happy. Watching my Terps get smashed by Cal sucked, but I could take some small comfort in the fact that UVA lost to William and Mary and Duke lost to Richmond. At least...

Re: Study: People who practice harder and smarter are better athletes

Slighty off topic, but does anyone know offhand what's considered advanced for different track events? Talking about 100, 400, mile, 5k etc. Thanks to the Universal Sports channel I've been...

Re: Usain Bolt - New WR

So Shelley-Ann Fraser and Kerron Stewart went 1-2 in the womens 100 with Carmelita Jeter coming in 3rd. Jamaica 4, USA 2, maybe we can catch up in the 200m. Doh!

Re: The COLONY

Yes, Junkyard Wars was AWESOME. It was always amazing what those guys would come up with. I remember one hovercraft episode in particular, it was ridiculous that the teams managed what they...

Re: The COLONY

that's pretty much what the bearded engineer guy on the show does. he built a flame thrower on the last episode, it was awesome. some other guy on the show built a homemade claymore mine. it'll be...

Re: The COLONY

yeah it's a really cool show. the way they rigged up their electricity was cool (don't want to ruin it for Amy!) but that handyman should calm down just a little bit. should be interesting to see...

Re: Seen at the globo yesterday

I walked over to the o-lift platforms to do some deadlifts yesterday. once again nobody else was using them, which is always nice. but sitting there between the two was one of those stand-alone...

Re: Any rowers wanna race to 6:30 2K?

I tried this today, it was tough. Best I managed was a 1:53 at 23 s/m. I did 4 intervals of 500m and then did a really slow 1k piece trying to have perfect form every stroke. I'm still new enough...

My little brother is one of your guys, it definitely helped him. I don't know if he logs anything anymore, but he eats healthier than he used to. Judging from our conversations, it's helping him...

Re: Any rowers wanna race to 6:30 2K?

Rowed a 7:11 last week. Previous 2k was a 7:19 so I guess I'm slowly moving in the right direction. I signed up for a beginning sweep rowing class, so perhaps the actual coaching will help.

Re: Games Scoring

I think a scoring system along the lines of the World's Strongest Man competitions would work. If you have 75 competitors, run 5 heats of 15 guys/girls. Top three in each heat advance to the second...
