Re: Amigos - What if I hadn't found Crossfit?

I wouldn't be able to laugh at people like Fiser who actually managed to get swindled.

Re: Who's the real sub: SDHP vs Rowing

EZ bar preacher curls are better at bridging the gap between the deadlift and clean than ****ing sumo deadlift high pulls.

Nobody in the real world uses them and the CrossFitters who happen to be...

Re: 5/3/1 and Crossfit questions from Wendler

How many waves of 5/3/1 have you done in this training cycle? The way I see it, if you implemented it like Jim says by starting light and doing high reps on the last lift of the day, you would need...

Re: 5/3/1 and Crossfit questions from Wendler

The main concern I have heard from people doing 5/3/1 is that it is very patently not for peaking for a meet. The guys who implement it properly often end up doing ten+ reps on the "1" day. Not good...

Re: 5/3/1 and Crossfit questions from Wendler

Well yes. That's why individuals do their own evaluations and the internet does not.

Re: 5/3/1 and Crossfit questions from Wendler

If it were me I would do it as follows:

Include assistance exercises which I need to keep in order to progress. For example my raw bench doesn't go up unless I dumbbell press and my deadlift doesn't...

Re: Rippetoe's recent comments on Crossfit

FWIW, these comments may be recent but they are not new. Rip's public views on CrossFit have been pretty consistent throughout everything I've seen him write.

Re: 50 Bucks Per Spectator

Same for the Bodypower Expo we had in England last year. About 50USD for a ticket I think. Mariusz Pudzianowski, Phil Heath, Kai Greene, Andy Bolton, Mark Felix and Glenn Ross in attendance. MMA...

Re: 50 Bucks Per Spectator

Haha. To put it in perspective, I'm pretty sure the spectator entry was 10GBP (about 17USD maybe, not sure of exchange rates) for a day of the WPC World Powerlifting Championships. Andrey Belyaev,...

Are curls more or less functional if you do them with 20% slop?

Re: 750 lbs deadlift

Conjecture intuits across broad time and modal domains that the area under the curve shows this not to be marketing BS. This is a truth divined through competition, not debate.

Any questions?

Re: 750 lbs deadlift

"As to the 500-750lb DL's- The contest of this statement was when Coach Glassman was still at the old Santa Cruz box. I made my first trip down to SC in March '03 if I remember correctly. My first...

Re: 750 lbs deadlift

There was a thread about this a while back. Robb Wolf of all people came in saying that it happened once, with someone pulling 200 injured and then after 2 years of whatever "crossfit" was back then...

Re: A Not so Crossfit Strength Program

Not many CrossFitters squat 500, but a strength program should at least allow someone to get strong (although the point is to get them there). I am healthy, with good joints, 20 years old, and if I...

Re: A Not so Crossfit Strength Program

I'm sorry, but did nobody really have anything to say about this? You warm up until you are warm, not some silly arbitrary number. It inherently limits your strength, because how can you warm up for...

Re: Different Philosophies About Strength Training

Numbers 2 and 3 are why you have to practise lifting fast if you want to be good at it. I have never heard of number 1 happening to anyone.

Re: Different Philosophies About Strength Training

Slow negatives are for hypertrophy. This assists strength but it is not strength in and of itself. The lifts you want to be strong at should be done fast all the time.

Re: CrossFit Wichita Falls Programming

Actually I just looked again and you can argue with those records, because they are ridiculous. They are US records (pop. 300m) and some of them (Poole and Merza) wouldn't even qualify for an...

Re: CrossFit Wichita Falls Programming

Well maybe not argue with them, but one could certainly point out that they were all done in an obscure federation which apparently maximises the number of record holders by having no open class....
