Re: Time vs Weight - I can't do it right.

I've been doing dimel deadlifts (but with full rom) for over 6 months now. It is usually 4 or 5 sets of 20 reps at 225-245lb dependant on how I feel that day. This is explosive work for high reps. ...

Re: How sore is too sore to workout?

Your never too sore to go for a 1 hour walk on a rest day. Its a rest day....not a do nothing day. The walk will promote blood flow and speed your recovery. If your cutting a few lbs. too this...

Re: Squat and DL critique (videos)

Deadlift

No shoes is good...closer to the floor.

Peoples opinions differ on this next part. I follow Louie Simmons and Dave Tate in that the shoulders should be behind the bar and then you pull...

Re: Benefits of a 1-1-1-1-1-1 type workout?

I've performed a 1-1-1-1-1 deadlift workout every week for the last 10 weeks. Varying from floor, boxes (just below knee) or deficit. Then followed each workout with a 3 set amrap at 60% 1RM. Done...

Re: Revised deadlift form check - trying to make it as good as it can get

I'm sorry thats wrong. Powerlifters like Louie Simmons advocate the shoulders above or behind the bar. Take the theory of a pendulum, if your shoulders are infront of the bar the bar must swing...

Re: Revised deadlift form check - trying to make it as good as it can get

What I meant is that he is not a powerlifting coach and he has admitted that. He coaches weight training. I believe there are better sources of information for technique. Riptoes ides of shoulders...

Re: Revised deadlift form check - trying to make it as good as it can get

I do not like the technique in Starting Strength...I think Riptoe has some parts of the deadlift wrong. Your much better off watching videos by Elite FTs, Dave Tate or Louie Simmons on youtube to...

Re: Revised deadlift form check - trying to make it as good as it can get

Your hips rise first on every lift. This is because your body is moving towards dominant quads to get it off the floor and your quads are dominating your back strength. Similar the the last...

Re: Revised deadlift form check - trying to make it as good as it can get

Your shoulders move forward during the first 2-3inches of the pull. This is partly because your shoulders start in front of the bar making pulling back difficult. Another reason for this is that...

Re: Revised deadlift form check - trying to make it as good as it can get

I'm posting in the order I see things.

Keep you shoulders above or behind (body side) of the bar. This is a deadlift, it is not a clear or snatch. A deadlift is a pulling back movement....if your...

Re: Revised deadlift form check - trying to make it as good as it can get

Keep your arms straight at the start of the lift.
Pull on the bar to take the slack and bend out of the bar and then pull harder to bring it off the floor.
The big elbow strike you do on the first...
