Dustin, what did you do after you got 10 reps with the thinnest band? I'm using the thinnest possible band and can do 10 reps, but I still can't do 1 pullup without the band. I'm fine on kipping...

That case study makes me hopeful! I'm not sure how I'm going to hold a dumbbell between my ankles and jump up on the bar at the same time, but I'll figure it out :)
