Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

It's funny...

He attempts to take the high road and say he doesn't want to change anything about us Affiliates. Only that it will be "optional."

What happens when that option leaves you high...

His LinkedIn. SF Bay area...that doesn't narrow it down whatsoever...

His FB says Palo Alto, Ca. Could be 5+ different Affiliates.

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

By no means am I saying that I wouldn't, either. But, I think the point is missed, and that's definitely my fault.

WE are the community. WE are the lifeblood of the very thing that changes so many...

Re: Stop Anthos from Taking over CrossFit

Forgive my ignorance here...

Isn't venture capitalism all about "spin and self interest?" Make as much money as possible, and NOT for us, as Affiliates?

Leave us out of your spat with Greg. Do...

Re: Do all your Games/Regionals athletes know how to swim?

I think "knowing how to swim" and being comfortable in the water are two very, very different things. Just because you know HOW doesn't mean you won't freak out. This goes into the idea of learning...

Re: Muslim weightlifter's wish to wear modest clothing triggers rules debate

Did we all forget?

Seems awfully close to the first two there...

I will say that I'm impressed at the maintained maturity level throughout the discussion.

Re: Swollen Nipple

Sounds like an infection, no doubt. Be really careful about it. I would suggest seeing a doctor for some antibiotics. The last thing you want is for it to be a staph infection, especially not MRSA....

Re: Crossfit Gymnastics Level 2 Certification Aug 6-7th

Just complaining about wanting to do it, and not being able to afford it as of right now! Don't mind me...haha

Re: Fake affiliate??

My understanding is that they cannot say they have CrossFit without being affiliated. Obviously, you cannot patent a squat, but you can patent the name of CF and say who can use it.

Re: gym pretending to be crossfit

Holy crap, is this guy serious? Read his "about" section and tell me it doesn't read off almost exactly like what CrossFit endorses...what a crock! I'm tempted to email him and ask what his...

Re: Legal issue or otherwise?

Easy, killer. Don't get your panties in a twist. You seem awfully fired up against someone who is just asking advice. Relax a little.

She's a good friend of mine, no ulterior motive. And I wish...

Re: Ring Dips: Forearm Abrasion

My arms rub too, to combat it, a little chalk has helped me in the past. Or long sleeves. Either way, the skin will toughen up a little.

Re: Self-taught snatch...bad idea?? Have a look

I would say right off that he's getting too squatty. Something my certification staff yelled at us for time and time again. Shouldn't his hips start a little higher, and his chin be in a more neutral...

Re: substitution for swimming

IMO there's not much you can do to sub for a swim. You can do something that's the same time as a lap, but at the same time, you are BREATHING the whole time. Whereas swimming, you're forced to...

Re: Garage Crossfit Gym

While my affiliate was still in the owner's garage, the c2 held up just fine. The crystals in the display needed a chance to warm up for the display to work properly, but the function was all there...

Re: In need of personal trainer liability insurance

Yeah, my understanding is that you CANNOT train others for profit without affiliating. This question came up at my cert and they seemed pretty adamant about it. You can train them for free, but you...

Re: In need of personal trainer liability insurance

Do you have a personal training certificate? Otherwise, think back to the thing you had to sign when you got your L1 (trainer's agreement, or something like that.)

Re: Games Competitors and Biceps??

I won't argue any of this! I <3 my triceps. CrossFit definitely favors the tricep - which as you said, is functional. I think larger biceps help, at most, minimally in pull-ups (dead-hang). The OP...

Re: Hand Taping Question

I've used this method. Dan's grips seem to be a variation of this, just laced over pinky, index, and maybe ring finger? It gets pretty wide after you layover the second strip.

These things are...
