I love the new site, but it appears that RSS feed for the daily WOD is broken.

https://www.crossfit.com/workout/ (wfs) lists https://www.crossfit.com/rss (wfs) as the RSS url for the page, but...

Thumbs up Re: MiR Weighted Vest Sale - Get a 2nd empty vest for cheap with an order.

I ordered a 50lb short vest from Patrick earlier this year. It really is a great vest, easily adjustable and well constructed.

If I had to pick one criticism, it's that the shoulder straps are a...

Re: The CFSC Burpee Challenge Log

We're starting up at CrossFit Charlotte (http://www.crossfitcharlotte.com/) (w/fs) on Monday. I did a benchmark 100 last night. I want to compare my time now, to the 100 on the last day, and then...

Question Re: Vibram Five Fingers?

How do the VFF's handle the olympic lifts? Any concern about the impact on your feet in the landing?

Re: Video Learning Curve For Coaching

If you're referring to TMPGEnc, it's more geared towards encoding and re-encoding video files than video authoring. They do includ DVD Author with later versions, but it appears to really only do...

Re: Top ten signs you take CF waaaaaaay too seriously.......

Whenever you're introduced to someone at a party, you estimate how long it would take you to "do" them right then and there.

You send a text message to your friends each time you do a WoD named...

Cool Re: Official Logsitall.com Thread - Post Here!

It's still a work in progress, but I wanted to show people what type of integration is possible with LogsItAll. (and show off just a little bit, hehe) Michael at CrossFit Charlotte...

Re: CrossFit Wiki...?

http://www.crossfitwiki.com/
W/FS (as far as I could see, didn't visit every page)

Even their link on their main site took me to the invalid URL. But visiting just the url above works.

Angry Kicked out of college gym

Hey guys,
I don't know if this has been posted here on the main site yet or not--I did some looking around but couldn't find any mention of it. One of our college clients is attending school...

Re: Sample Ring Workout?

Still working on that press to shoulder stand, but I like this workout. As soon as I can do it reliably on the rings, I'm gonna try this.

Re: Thumbs on top of bar for kip prevents ripped callous?

I don't remember if I changed my grip at any point. But I use a thumbs over the bar grip for most of my pull-ups. Unless I'm changing it up due to fatigue and use an underhand grip, then the thumb...

Re: rack position in thrusters

Well, I guess I'm saying "That's what I do." LOL. The requirements of the thruster are full squat to full lockout. How you get there is up to you. While I think there are some points that we can...

Congrats!!! That's always a big achievement. Before ya know it you'll be storming through Murph! Don't know why, but that's always been one of my favorites. Maybe because it was my first Hero...

Re: James Fitzgerald (OPT) - WOD 1-31-08 Video

I think if you take into account Scott's observation of CrossFit for Fitness vs CrossFit for Sport, then Gant's "quoting of scripture" is valid. In my mind if you treat CrossFit as a Sport, then it...

Re: James Fitzgerald (OPT) - WOD 1-31-08 Video

Oh yes, very true. I wasn't thinking about OPT's style of kip. But that does bring up an interesting argument. If that style kip necessitates a wide grip because of the stress on the shoulders,...

Re: James Fitzgerald (OPT) - WOD 1-31-08 Video

Because a snatch has the issue of balancing the weight overhead. As for narrow-grip vs wide grip. I believe that wide grip does reduce ROM, and there fore decreases the amount of Work done (Force *...

Re: James Fitzgerald (OPT) - WOD 1-31-08 Video

Regardless of any of my thoughts on physics or otherwise. If strength lifting is involved, I'll defer to Rip, I think he has a tad bit more experience than I, lol.

Re: James Fitzgerald (OPT) - WOD 1-31-08 Video

:bonk:
LOL, and I didn't think of using standard plates. My gym has enough that we can pretty much use bumpers for anything with a chance of a drop.

So I will ammend: If we were to get technical...

Re: rack position in thrusters

It should be one continuous, smooth--but explosive, motion. The power to drive the bar overhead comes from your legs and hips, the arms just finish the job off.

That being said, you do want to work...

Re: James Fitzgerald (OPT) - WOD 1-31-08 Video

I didn't go back and double check OPT's deadlifts, so I'm not going to comment on what he did or didn't do.

But in my opinion, bouncing a deadlift is much more different than "bouncing pull-ups." ...

Re: Kipping Styles

I agree. While I believe there is some conservation of energy, I don't believe it's not that much. As I said I just made up the 40% number to do some math with. I wanted to show that even using a...
