Re: 3 months and no fat loss

uhm no offense but 5'11" and 290 isn't stocky, it's obese. If you're eating and exercising like you say you are, and you're not experiencing any dramatic body changes you really need to see a doctor!

Re: Mother of God....

Re: Mother of God....

Cam - maybe check and see if there's someone doing Crossfit up @ CFB Cold Lake for access to an instructor, I'm thinking that might be your closest place. Otherwise, you and I are stuck with the...

Re: IT Band / iliotibial band syndrome prevention - cure?

Just an update, things seem to be improving very rapidly. I took the time to have the bike refit by a proper fitter. Turns out the seat was too low, my shoes needed shims and the cleat angles...

Re: IT Band / iliotibial band syndrome prevention - cure?

Since the injury first presented itself after riding my bike and is easily alleviated until I ride my bike, I have a feeling it's best to focus on bike set up and pedalling technique first. Cycling...

Re: IT Band / iliotibial band syndrome prevention - cure?

sooo, looking ahead - I hopped on my bike last night to see where I'm at (on the street obviously ;) ) and discovered that it seems nearly impossible to feel the glutes being recruited on the down...

Re: IT Band / iliotibial band syndrome prevention - cure?

Shoes are shiny new, well pretty much - they don't even have 200k (120 miles) on them yet.
Orthotics? Maybe...
Running technique - sucks, I'm a heal striker. Gotta fix that, not sure how, wish...

Re: IT Band / iliotibial band syndrome prevention - cure?

A glute activation "drill" is already part of the therapy. I guess I should have been more precise, she only gave me one glute activation exercise, I'm looking for more.

IT Band / iliotibial band syndrome prevention - cure?

What can I do to prevent this injury from getting worse? Did a triathlon 3 wks ago and when I bailed off the bike, there it was. Nothing like being side swiped in a race. Went to the physio...

Re: Just did first day and still alive... Barely!!!

Dimitri, from your comments I'm guessing that you have not had a lot to do with truly obese people. One of the most important things they can do is reach out and share the experience. The...

Re: To train or not to train (when sick)

Disagree, lots of high volume training types (myself included) tend to be more susceptible to illness. This is due to the body being in recovery mode more often. Keep training if you want your cold...

Re: Weight fluctuation

And even then it can move up and down as much as 2-4 lbs. Better to weigh less frequently IMHO.

Re: My first day...

just ditch the scale now, it won't do you any favours. You'll be gaining muscle mass and loosing fat, there are going to be times you gain pounds but loose inches. That stupid scale will only erode...

New WOD for you,

Med ball bounces.
Place scale about 12"-18" directly in front of you.
Take a 12 lb or heavier med ball, raise the ball above your head
Throw as hard as you can @ the scale,...

Re: Combining Crossfit workouts with Swimming

Yup, intervals are pretty much it. Longest swim most swim days is warm up around 400-600m. Then it's 100m of this followed by 100m of that and so on. With a few sprinkles of 200's & 400's, but...

Re: Combining Crossfit workouts with Swimming

Andy, your answer here actually supports the OP's premise that swimming compliments CF. How? Well if CF truly is a whole body fitness "sport" then by your own admission you have not taken the time...

You will want to plateau, for me I'm...
