Re: Paleo vs Zone?

+1 to Joe's comment. I think it would be pretty hard to eat paleo and get 40% from carbs. My macro ratios are right around 20% Carb, 30% Protein, and 50% fat. And I lost more weight after...

Re: Recurring SI Slip - need advice

Thanks Mike. I read the NUCCA info you posted in this thread (http://www.board.crossfit.com/showthread.php?t=44637) (wfs) with interest. I could be the poster child (or middle-age guy in my case)...

Great link Steven. Thank you for replying. I have been getting chiro care for it and it is much better. I will start looking through those exercises and come up with a stretching - strengthening...

Recurring SI Slip - need advice

I have a recurring SI slip issue. I thought that my CF and SS training had strengthened my back enough since it hadn't happened for a couple of years. I was doing an SS workout when it happened....

Re: In college - thoughts on crossfit as a career?

Colin, you really have a great opportunity. By all assessments, CF is in it's infancy so you are in a great place. Now you really need to define what you mean by "is Crossfit a viable career...

Re: Media Issues- Sony Handycam

Kevin, check out Adobe Premiere Elements (http://www.adobe.com/products/premiereel/) (wfs). I haven't used it as I have FCP but I do use PhotoShop Elements. If this is at all comparable, it's a...

Re: Huge Decline in Quality

Joe and Oliver,

With all due respect, I think you're completely redefining what 'affiliate' means. It gives the person the right to use the CF name...period. As an analogy, let's say I opened a...

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

The Paleo Diet by Loren Cordain
But to get started, just read Melissa Urban's blog (http://www.urbangetsdiesel.com/2009/07/change-your-life-in-thirty-days.html) on the 30 day challenge and Robb...

Re: Huge Decline in Quality

Good grief Oliver! Yea, I guess the Glassman's clearly don't have a clue on how to manage and grow a business. ;)

Can you get any more saturated than by giving away your fitness program for...

Re: Huge Decline in Quality

Oliver, you really need to reread your post. It just doesn't make sense. First you say
And then say

So which is it? How is CFHQ not affected if an affiliate goes under if the affiliates support...

Re: paleo with hypoglycemia?

Odds are she's HYPERinsulemic not HYPOglycemic. And sugar is the cause not the solution. Robb Wolf refers to this as the insulin-glucagon teeter-totter.

Have her do strict paleo. The hypoglycemic...

Re: Emphasis on biking

Biking was part of the genisis of CF. Coach Glassman talks about this in one of the CFJ videos. He did gymnastics, biking and lifted weights. He noted that if he met someone that could beat him in...

Re: Zone Help - Hard Gainer/Fat intake

OK, I'll bite. Please show me a meal plan that includes meat that is 60-30-10. I don't think you can do it without resorting to crap or portions that no one could adhere to a on long term diet.

Re: Refutation of Metabolic Syndrome

2 things that come to mind are:

USDA food pyramid (not a study but I'm sure it's based on them)
Look up the studies Ancil Keyes used to promote the 'fat is bad' theory. They are referenced in...

Re: Huge Decline in Quality

Jason, he's saying you can't have it all at the same time. Steve is saying he can't have a 7 min mile and a 445 lb bench. And that he feels that he is in better shape now.

This isn't a hard...

Re: Diet help

The 2 issues with dressing are the fact that they usually have vinegar which is a no-no for strict paleo. It has to do with acid-base balance. I didn't learn this until I was 15 days...

Re: Diet Analysis

My recommendation would be to lower protein by 100g and replace with fat or maybe with 1/2 fat 1/2 carbs. So the consensus is to cut protein. If you replace with carbs and start to feel like you're...

Re: Huge Decline in Quality

I thought the blog post was petty, bitter and cowardly.

How many people walked through his doors because of CF? My guess is that he benefited far more from CF that he would have without being an...

Re: Intermittent fasting / Power Laws / DeVany's EF etc.

Necromancer...

Check out Robb's articles on PM and the IF forum there. I think you can buy the 3-4 he wrote on IF in a single pack. They get into some of the theoretical aspects of why IF...

Re: Intermittent fasting / Power Laws / DeVany's EF etc.

Brent, not sure if you noticed but this thread is 5 years old and Tyson's response is 1.5 years old. But hey, you want to know... ;)

You are correct, they are somewhat at odds with each other. ...

Re: paleo "change your life in 30 days"

I attended Robb Wolf's nutritional cert a couple of weekends ago. A 'hybrid' version of paleo focused on those that need to gain strength/mass is paleo+milk. I think you'll see this being promoted...
