Re: coaching concerns..

Hi Susan,

Don't worry about it. There will probably always be better athletes than yourself, especially so if you are a good coach. They will seek you out, but not for your personal athletic...

Re: More = Better?

Don't plan too many hours. Let you clients tell you what works for them, but keep in mind what works for you. You'll need to get them to come together. It makes for better training and is more fun...

Re: Thinking of opening a box out of my two car garage

Been there done that.

Here's a few thoughts in no particular order:

Don't get too much equipment. Space is the limiting factor. Go outside as much as possible. Get only the equipment you'll use the...

Re: Marketing to Students/"College Town" Affiliate

Almost 5 years in Tallahassee. Here's some thoughts:

Very price sensitive.
Make sure you have very clear terms.
I suggest you automate payments and don't take cash, otherwise you won't get...

Re: On Ramp / Foundations Expectations

Heck yes!

I explain to prospective members that we work very hard to create a high quality training environment and we don't want it disrupted just because someone is new. Almost everyone agrees....

Re: On Ramp / Foundations Expectations

We tell our Foundations classes that we don't expect them to "get it" today or even soon. Its more of an introduction to the movement and to our coaching. We set their expectations low by pointing...

Re: How to seperate the average crossfitter from the competitor

We offer a separate competitor class that is in addition to the regular wod. The class meets 3 days a week and other than taking a day off in the middle of the week, our competitors do this class and...

Re: Floor Scrubber

We do use a leaf blower both to get the stuff out where the auto scrubber can better get it but also as a supplement when we don't want to get the floor wet.

Yes it goes right over the gaps, but...

Re: Marketing your box

Be careful about aggressively tagging every member. Lots of people don't like it. I know from personal experience :D

It's better that they tag themselves and each other. I suggest you encourage...

Re: Payroll, pay perioids and Quick books

We use ADP and while not the cheapest they do make it easy!

ADP takes care of direct deposit and we get our workman's comp insurance through them too.

We pay monthly, and since ADP charges only...

Re: Floor Scrubber

We use the brush attachment on our auto scrubber, and it's easy to use. You pick up on the handle and it goes forward, pick up higher and it goes faster! :p
It turns on a dime too.

Yep, went through two of them before I went big league. They are too small, take too long and won't last long.

Re: Help! Does anyone have tricks?

We've been using our autoscrubber for over a year now with outstanding results. It goes over our 3/4 horse stall mats and our polyurethane coated platforms without causing any wear we've noticed. ...

Re: Help! Does anyone have tricks?

Our auto scrubber is the best! Yes, it was an investment but now we can do the whole floor in like 20 minutes. Our floor is ~100' x ~50' so that's saying something. We do it 3 times a week and more...

Re: Ceiling fans in a warehouse?

We've settled on 48" belt drive fans from Northern Equipment, which we get through Amazon. They put out an amazing amount of air and are said to be more reliable than direct drive fans. We have a few...

I tried constant contact and they constantly marketed me! Couldn't stand it after a while and yes I opted out but they just seemed to create new "categories" for further opt out. Also paying a fee...

Re: Alternative to Chalk.

We got this stuff too and it works great for those, usually big guys, who sweat the chalk away. The biggest problem is reminding them to use it before the wod starts! ;)
