Only one way to find out buddy, give each a go for a couple for a couple of months...you may even find that a period of each works wonders for you...volume and intensity are not the only variables...

I would personally use one of those hours to kick back relax and recover....body progresses at rest, not during a workout....

Agreed....but he says he wants to get better at getting under the bar.....I advised practising just that and the nearer he can get to practising it in a specific way, the better.

Anytime strength is increased then endurance CAN be improved...it's an economy of effort thing;
more strength means less effort in all things, so yes, being stronger will help WOD's....black box...

Programme hopping won't resolve the issue really.
Although 20 reps squats is a great programme you best not be trying it with the same frequency as SS.
