I love Wordpress. If anyone has any questions - you can PM me as well.

Although I do need some help myself - anyone know how to add tell a friend functionality to your posts. I've tried cforms, but I cannot get it right. I want something really simple and clean.

Thanks.

Trying to set up my blog. Is there a basic tutorial or FAQ somewhere for wordpress?

Lots of problems. Like, when I post it removes all my spaces, and I can't figure out how to imbed a video in a post.

Best plugin for inserting video is:

We originally had a conventional website at www.crossfitresults.net and knew that we needed to upgrade to a blog site. We initially contacted a party in Arizona that wanted $4,000 to revamp my site with typepad. Lisa Lugo put in touch with Matt from www.crossfitchampions.com who revamped my site with wordpress for under $500. We are still in the fine tuning process but our new website is incredible and you can't beat the price. It is by far one of my best business decisions. Thanks again Matt, we appreciate you!

Matt,

I can't tell you how glad I am we used your advice and went with WordPress. It is SO easy. It's really no different than posting an e-mail every morning.

I'm sure that your help and feedback have been a major reason for the ease in our transition. Whatever the reason, we've had great feedback from users on our site and I can pretty much wiz right through things.

Thanks again!

Re: Official WordPress users thread.

I've had some major frustration with WP recently, because I want to use sidebar widgets, but once you activate the widgets you switch from using the sidebar.php and sidebar2.php which are available in the WP-Admin --> Themes Editor, over to a widgets.php script which is located in wp-includes (only available on your server, through your ftp program).

The SearchForm is an example of something I REALLY want to re-style, but I don't know enough php, or how to get the CSS to manipulate my search form. Eg. I want to move the search bar to the right, move the search button to the right, center the whole thing in my sidebar, and add some text immediately above it.

(I'm also having wicked CSS problems on my site, but that's another barrel of fish...)

Has anyone had success re-designing their search bar? I HAVE finally found some php-call tags to place certain widgets in my sidebar outside of the dynamic-sidebar area, which wasn't easy. But I still can't style my search bar.

CSS: Somehow my stylesheet has disabled me from applying styles to certain posts; eg. I'll through UL - LI into a post, or even STRONG, and it doesn't work. In other posts, it works. Getting things aligned perfectly in my sidebars has been a mess... (Excuse me, I just haven't had anywhere else to vent on this stuff!)

Kirez,

What is your website address?
What theme are you using?

When you write a post or page, are you using the rich text editor or manually putting in UL and/or LI tags?

Are you copying and pasting in the text from somewhere else into your post?

Re: Official WordPress users thread.

FWIW, I just wanted to throw out the idea to you wordpress users that these new "magazine" style themes look pretty dang awesome. I finally decided to start a fitness blog (sfw) and tried out Openbook (sfw). I could see affilates awesoming up their sites with it. I could also see Structure (sfw) working out well. I looked at Mimbo (sfw) too, but Openbook was prettier out of the box and I didn't want to do a lot of CSS editing because I really don't care that much about the site.

The magazine style does require more work in associating images with posts and making sure you categorize properly but if you're brave enough to use Wordpress in the first place you can do it.

I used WP2.5, which was a pain and I frown upon because not a lot works with it yet and they got rid of some key stuff, like category numbers, that now requires plugins to work. It's like Vista, but worse. The themes and plugins actually work better in WP 2.2 or 2.3.

Anyway, just an idea to pretty up the Crossfit corner of the internets.
