Heeeere we go again, same old @#$% again-Deployment #3

I am at a training site getting ready to leave on my 3rd deployment (it's just Kuwait, but I guess it counts) in the very near future. I work on logistics which means the bulk of my work is getting my unit ready to go over. Once I get over there I will have a lot of free time to workout. One of the gyms supposedly has a Crossfit type setup. On my previous two deployments I came back in the best shape of my life and I plan on keeping that trend going. Let's see what difference a year of hard training can make.

I got this one of the offsite WOD site. It was way too easy. I wanted to ease back into it, but I need a little more challenge.

30 Mountain Climbers
3 Rounds

I've been thinking a lot today about what my goals are for the next year. Just saying I want to "get in shape" is about as vague as it gets. In the past I've had the goal of getting as big as possible. I've come to terms with the fact that I'll never be Arnold. Now I am pretty happy with my size. I have started to build an adult wardrobe so getting any bigger could cost me a pretty penny. It would be nice to be a little stronger, but not at the expense of my endurance. I want to find a nice balance. I think my ultimate goal is to be conditioned enough to enjoy my many hobbies. One weekend I may want to hike, then surf the next weekend, and rock climb the next. I may not be the best at any of them, but I want to be in good enough shape that I will still be able to walk on the Monday after.

Double Tabata
Pushups/Situps
203 Reps

I've decided to alternate strength days with regular WODs from here on out. My WODs are going to be centered around my APFT events (pushups, situps, run, and soon the rower). I will probably alternate PU/SU WODs with running WODs from CFE. This should ensure a solid PT test by the time I leave this place early next year.

I went a little overboard two days ago and I am paying the price today. DOMS is kicking my @$$ big time. I'm going to take today off and hopefully get back at it tomorrow. Much to my chagrin they are going to start doing company PT tomorrow. If it's going to be a recurring deal I will use that to work on my running and pushups/situps. If that's the case I am going to dedicate my evenings to lifting heavy crap. Hopefully they wise up and let me conduct squad level PT but I don't think that's going to be the case.
