"Tabata This" Rowing Substitution
An acquaintance and I recently had an argument as to what substitution better mimics rowing for the Tabata This workout. We seem to agree that sprinting is a good substitute, but we differ on how the sprints should be carried out. What, in y'all's minds, is a more accurate sub:

a) Sprinting a straight line, with x meters equalling 1 point, or
b) Sprinting back and forth y meters, y < x, and one length equalling 1 point

Re: "Tabata This" Rowing Substitution
I think sumo deadlift high pull with a 45# bar is probably a better substitute than running.

And tabatas are generally done for time, not distance.

Re: "Tabata This" Rowing Substitution
Sprinting is not nearly as good of a substitute as sumo deadlift high pull with a 20kg barbell.

Just find out out how many calories you can get in 20 seconds on the rower and and how many sumo lifts you can do in 20 seconds. Then divide the number of sumo lifts by the calories from the rower to determine how many sumo lifts equal a point.
