Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
Steve, can't remember but, have you read The Paleo Diet? It might give you a good base for learning a healthy and life-long way to eat. Just use it as a basis, you don't have to go all the way with it. Anyway, if you haven't already...read it!
Thanks, Nancy. I haven't read it yet - - I've tried to locate a copy locally, but each time it seems the couple of stores (and the bookstore) are out of stock. Time to order on-line I guess. I've been following the Zone pretty strictly (with more emphasis on protein over carbs) until about the last two weeks. Haven't eaten a lot of garbage, but I have lost focus and have not eaten enough or in proper balance to support my workout intensity. BTW, I was shocked today when I checked the rower and found it only had 122 total kilometers logged on it during its 14 year lifetime! |
Catching up on your log! You have been doing great work. Great Dead Hangs and Fran. Way to set clear goals.
Thanks ET! Really looking forward to getting my focus back. Eating has been suffering, but I'm optimistic. Sure do appreciate your encouragement! Take care! |

090329 SUNDAY.
Today was supposed to be a workout day. Back spasmed all last night, so ended up with a short workout on the rower and a walk. See my BLOG (finally got it up and running) . . . it's wfs. I hope to post mainly to my blog, since I tend to get a bit long-winded here. I'll still hang out to read others logs and learn - - this is such a valuable community! Steve |

As for coming to California, coffee, guiness, Fosters, or ? is on me!! Have an awesome Monday! (well, almost Tuesday at your place..:D). Steve |

090330 MONDAY
Taking this week off. Realized I have only taken one intentional "rest and recovery" period in the last 25 weeks. Need to give Achilles, back, and R/shoulder some active rest time. |

Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
Thank you for the kind words, Greg. I've never been good at push ups, but don't know if I set the goals properly. Just kinda pulled them out of the air on what seemed reasonable to shoot for....
Hey Steve. Hard work requires hard rest! You need it! If you look at the way the WODs are designed it is usually more push-ups than pull-ups. Usually a 2:1 ratio but I'd think the most you'd want to shoot for is a 4:1 ratio of push-ups to pull-ups to keep you in balance. Keep in mind that 90% of the american public is very quad/chest/shoulder strong and very weak back & posterior chain. I attribute this to too much sitting ... couches, desks, computers, and cars and not enough hard work. Also, traditional male workouts include bench, biceps, etc.... No back, glute, hamstring. Most people sit all day so they can pay someone else to do the hard stuff for them. As Rip says...something like....just because desks were invented it doesn't discount the need for the human body to work hard. OK, i know, sorry, i'm probably preaching to the choir on this one! :D |

Thanks, Chuck! I'm afraid I've lived a sheltered life - - never had a drop of Guinness. Perhaps it's time to try. Steaks.......NOW you're talkin'. |
