I am new to the board and would like some advice on a sample diet whilst training for a half marathon. For the last 14 months I have been concentrating on building mass with lots of weight training. I have been asked to do a half marathon by a mate to raise funds for a charity ( we lost two friends last May, one a firefighter and the other a police officer)what I would like is a diet plan to follow that allows me to fuel my training but also help me lose BF, this will then help with the running. I will still do weights 2 x week but with higher reps. I know all the hard work of getting to 13st 9lbs will be wasted but the cause is far better reward. hope you can help. Cheers

The short version is "Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat." For tons and tons of information, try the search feature or just browse the archives of the nutrition section. A lot of people like the Zone, so you could do a search for that. I'm not an endurance athlete, but those Crossfitters who are seem to think that it doesn't change your nutritional requirements. Here's a link to get you started:

Probably need some more info.... you current body fat, weight, etc.

My BF is coming out at 12.7%(with calipers)
I am 5ft 8 (and a bit, very important :biggrin:)
Weight is 13st 9lbs
