Nancy! Congratulations!!! Naturally Filthy Fifty comes to mind. Other than that a series of 12 & 13s where unlucky 13 is something really wicked?
Thanks Deb. But....I wasn't thinking in terms of what WORKOUT to do. I'm thinking more along the lines of booze, food, travel, misc. activities...you know... CELEBRATION...not pain!!!

How did you all CELEBRATE?!

Nancy, I had just returned from Iraq and was chock-a-block full of PTSD. My six year old daughter and I share a birthday (July 3rd). Mom thought it would be great to go to Disneyworld for our birthday over the 4th of July holiday. Much fun occured in spite of the overbearing Florida summer heat and rude european tourists. I tried to stay as un-sober as I could and still not vomit in It's A Small World. They had a rockin' fireworks show and my daughter thought it was all for her....cool.

Jim, I couldn't do the DL/rings/situp WOD today. I got to the gym and the ceiling had fallen in (old military gym) so they had to close it up. I didn't feel like driving all the way home to get my rings so I went to the "new" post gym and did:

Front Squats
#45x10
#65x10
#95x5
#115x3
#135x3
#145x3
#155x3
#165x3
#95x10

Could have gone higher, but felt right on the edge. The gym I was in doesn't have bumpers and strongly discourages dumping a fail. So....

Tomorrow for Tim's WOD!

1/5/10

AM- Physical Therapy
20 min xbike- 4.8 miles

Cleared by Doc for upper body exercises and some walking

PM
5x10
Pull-ups (Blue Band)
Dips (Purple band)
1 arm KB press L/R 20#

30 min xbike - 7.3 miles

Gonna spend the next couple of months in the local Globo to use the isolation machines. I don't need to isolate the muscles for the movement, I need to isolate my surgical hip from the movement.

I turned 50 last March and wanted to keep it very low key. Some brown liquor, wine and dinner with the family. My box did hit me and the rest of us with the filthy 50 the day before.

Mon, Legitimate rest day
Tue, Impromptu rest day. Those happen. But that's a lame excuse.

If I'm a good doobee (I'm sure all or most of you remember that, both the good ones from tv in the 60's and the Mexican ones that were popular in the 70s) between now and then, I'll celebrate heartily.

01/05/09: REST

(Long, long work day that started at 6:30AM, did not include enough nutrition and by the time I got home, all I wanted to do was eat and go to bed, so I did). I think the extra rest is helping my back, too.

01/06/09

WARMUP:
90 seconds on the bike
25 squats
20 pushups
10 pullups

STRENGTH:
Hang Power Clean 5x3
75, 95, 115, 135, 140

WOD:
Bench Press (135 lb.)/Ball Slams (25 lb.)
Alternating 10/10, 9/9, 8/8, 7/7, 6/6, 5/5, 4/4, 3/3, 2/2, 1/1

1/6 WOD.

3 Rounds for Time of:
3 High Hang Power Cleans (i.e. start with bar hanging high on thigh)
6 Mid Hang Power Cleans (start with bar at mid-thigh)
9 Hang Power Cleans (normal start position, bar just above knee)
50 Squats

8:46 as Rx'd (95#). Sweet to do a WOD as Rx'd! Cleans felt good, was able to do first round of 18 without rest, then grip began going. Squats were not super fast, but steady.

Thanks everyone, for sharing your 50th celebration memories! What I get from reading them all, is that booze pretty much will have to be a part of the day! :D
(no offense meant to those who don't drink. I don't mean to imply that booze is necessary for fun)

1-6-10
WU: C2, dips, OHS, KB swings

WOD: AMRAP in 20 min of:
3 x #225 DL
6 x Ring push ups
9 x Abmat butterfly situps

Got 15 rounds plus 3 DL. The situps began to wear on me and the ring push ups were surprisingly easy. Looking forward to a rest day.
