Too much legs?
so im still in rehab for my elbows (ulnar nerve problems from too many reps) =/ been 10 weeks now.

so, been focusing on my leg workouts.

right now im trying a SS type workout consisting of a warm up on the bike/stair climbing then to squats. 10 reps to warm, then 5x5 heavy as i can.

im doing this M W F. and increasing 5-10lbs per workout

on tues and thurs ive been either biking or hiking. (not a lot, maybe 30 min interval training on bike and 6-8 mile hikes)

is this too much work for the legs to recover from?

Re: Too much legs?
If you are able to keep adding 5-10lbs per workout you must be doing ok... at least for now.

Everyone is different in terms of their ability to recover, so I don't think there's a definite answer anyone here can give. I'd say listen to what your body is telling you. Are you making the regular strength gains you're aiming for, or are you plateauing/regressing? Do you find your legs are too sore to push yourself properly during your workouts?

Plateauing and persistent soreness are key symptoms of overtraining. If you're still getting stronger and fitter then I guess your body is able to handle it. If not then back off the volume a little.

Re: Too much legs?
I would go by soreness, but sometimes some workouts don't leave the muscles sore.. like the other day, I did front sqtats, 5 sets of 5, with my last set using my 5RM weight (or what seemed like it, or close to it).. and I did not feel sore the day after, but I knew I should maybe not go for a ton of squats that day :)

Re: Too much legs?
Doing exactly the same thing 3 times a week isn't a good plan; why not have something like a 5x5 session, a 5rm session and a back-off 3x3 session, or switching one for front squats?

I couldn't do much for my upper body after shoulder surgery, and had good luck with 3x5 M & F and either a lighter 1x5 or front squats (took me awhile to be able to do them) on W. 2-3 runs a week, from sprints to 3 miles. I think 15 heavy sets is a bit much, but it depends on your strength and recovery, so you'll have to be the judge.

I'd also suggest ramping up your warmup sets, not just doing 1x10 and jumping into heavy sets. For example, my squat workout from Monday: bike 1/2 mile / BS: 45x8,8 / 135x5 / 225x3 / 315x2 / 365x5,5,5.
