funny you should mention climbing JT....was talking with a good friend last nite and we made the commitment that at least once a month from april to September we (a group of friends) will do a sunday breakfast (early enough to miss the hordes that descend here) in the smoke bluffs.....something we have not done near enough of over the last few years

http://www.tourismsquamish.com/attractions/smoke-bluffs-park-and-crumpit-woods (wfs)

last nite at the gym

It is a crime to live in Squamish and not go to the cliffs and mountains...
Glad to hear you're going to be getting out there!

Wednesday April 8, 2015

Walked 1 mile at a brisk pace, no back pain, no legs falling asleep, very nice.

Coached basketball for 1.5 hours
This involves throwing hundreds of passes and chasing down rebounds.
I was drenched at the end and loving it.
Today was a conditioning day for the kids, not a skills day, and not one of them complained. I was running them HARD!!!

Cliff Miller 04-09-2015 06:39 AM

Re: Over 50 Crossfitters Sign In

I totally agree with you on that JT....I am blessed to have a group of friends our age that love being outside doing things....it just takes someone to take the lead and organize what ever adventure we are going to go on

last nite at the gym....before I started in on my work out I said to the coach..."that partner wod looks fun if you need a second I'm in"

he says "nope we should be o.k."

soooo I keep on doing what I am doing.....

stepping up to a 20" box w/45 lb barbell on shoulders single leg box step ups

3 x 20 lying on side leg raises w/10lb ankle weights

then I said to the coach "you ok with partners"

he said "yup....carry on"

50 225 lb back squats for time 8:22

just as I finished the squats my coach goes and says "hey cliff we actually are short a person...you in?"

I reply "sure"

so I get put with an old buddy who was responsible for getting me into xfit....and the old guys did

1 minute per station w/ 1 minute rest for 3 rounds...alternating reps

24kg goblet squats
tire flips and then jump on it
seated sled drags w/115 lbs on sled 30'drag
push ups/ring rows
5-10-5 yard shuttle sprints

297 reps for team "old guys rock"

I am a little sore this morning :D

Nice story on the partner WOD!!

Thursday April 9, 2015

Goblet squat, pass throughs, hip extensions

In between lifts I was spotting my friend Rhonda, who did 70 muscle ups in preparation for Regionals.

hope you get better JT.....being sick sucks.....

so an exciting last couple of days here......Thursday nite the docks caught on fire and burned over nite

http://www.piquenewsmagazine.com/whistler/squamish-terminals-dock-fire-out-by-saturday/Content?oid=2645048 (wfs)

then on Friday went to gym and did a heavy chest and back day

Saturday hiked up to the top of the sea to sky gondola

http://www.seatoskygondola.com/ (wfs)

almost 900 M. elevation gain, over about 12 k.m. took about 3 hours......then went home and tackled 4 hours of yard work and life chores

then sunday another big yard work life chores day and in the midsts of all that a chunk of the stwamus chief fell off

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2015/04/20/squamish-rock-slide-stawamus-chief_n_7097792.html (wfs)

they figure is was about 1,000 cubic meters of rock that fell off the side of the darn rock......good thing no one was hiking around at the base where it landed.....

back to quiet old work today....

@Cliff, Holy Cow!! I've been rock climbing on that formation before!

Monday April 20, 2015

WARNING, CONTAINS EXPLICIT MATERIAL

Woke up feeling 50%, which is a 49% improvement over yesterday.
Mid morning the congestion starting breaking up.
My lungs and head had felt so full that on a whim I weighed myself after hacking up the first lungful of crap. By two this afternoon I weighed 4 pounds less....

Went to the gym and did 20 snatches with the empty bar and with one little plate on it. Sweated like I'd been sick for a week. Still, it felt so good to get out of the house and move around a little! Hope to actually be able to train a little tomorrow.

glad you are on the rebound JT.........the chunk that fell off was from the third peak.....for 3 labour day hikes a group of us used to go up the north gully which is the gully separating 2nd and 3rd peak.

it was always a weird feeling being in the gully however the last time we hiked it...just over 6 hours.....we got to almost the top and the cavern we had to climb through was 100% changed from the year before.......we almost had to hike back down it was that close to not making it through

once we got to the trail on the top all 5 or 6 of us agreed that we were done with hiking the north gully. smart choice I think now

alden.....that hike and the view from the top is amazing.....keep up the great work

This was tough. My right knee was feeling this from the Back squats and my hamstrings were talking on the KBS. The Back Squats were the bottleneck on this one! I Had to break up the early rounds. Hanging on to the Kettlebell helped get them done. Good tough WOD!

Still not feeling 100%, but feeling much better.
Still have head congestion and get dizzy occasionally...

Drove to CTown CrossFit
Warmed up
Went 34 for 35 on snatches, including 3 for 3 at 70kg, 1 for 1 at 72kg, and 1 for 2 at 75kg (my PR is 81kg).

Collected myself for 15 minutes.
Drove home.

That's what I get for cherry picking yesterday's WOD! More KBS's! This one was kill a shoulder one at a time. My hammies were sore! I broke up the rounds into subsets of 6 then 5, as long as I could. I got into a groove with the KBS's, but they were tiring! What a WOD!!

Saturday April 25, 2015

Faith (6) and Emma (10) competed in their first Oly meet today.
Faith won first prize in her age group with an 11 pound snatch and a 12 pound clean and jerk. Emma won first prize in her age group with a 32 pound snatch and a 35 pound clean and jerk. Both girls made all of their lifts. I spent the rest of the day judging and announcing at the meet. Saw Jarred and Carl from CrossFit Tiffin lift some SERIOUS weight. Headed to the SoP tomorrow.

Sunday April 26, 2015 @ the Shed 'o Pain

Mobility Work
OHS to 95#
FS to 135#
BS to 225#

TGUS to 35# (35 is way heavier than 20...)

Three rounds of:
five burpees (burpees! Yay!)
five WBS (20# to 10')

Then, held an empty bar OHS for as long as possible three times. Once in Nanos, once in bare feet, once in Oly shoes.

Today was the first time that I haven't felt sick in two weeks. Still don't feel 100%, but don't feel sick.
