Maybe this is the year Reebok steps it up and supplies everyone with gear at Regionals as well

I could care less but I can see it happening. Over half the athletes would likely show up in Nikes.
Just saw on Mitch Barnard's instagram that there are rumors of only reebok gear being allowed at regionals. Has anyone else heard or seen anything about this? If it's true it seems pretty absurd to require that, when regional competitors arent given the loads of free reebok gear like the games athletes are.
If they supply the uniform for the competition completely, then fine, no problem, but if not and they still require it, that's ridiculous, especially because at that level the athletes are still paying their own way and paying an entrance fee

Sam Briggs did qualify for Regionals didn't she ?

Have there been any athletes who have been to the games before who have not qualified for regionals ? (bigger names)

Now here is a really silly question ? Why did they not (or better yet), when will they just combine the "Super" Regions during the Open and take the top 40 from there. They will eventually run into exactly what has happened in the past. The top 5-10 from each Region will be competitive but the bottom 10 will not be as much.

Wonder if this will happen down the road

FYI, Sam Briggs is in the South Regional this year. She won the South East.

She finished 8th in the South East. The C&J killed her score.

Ok with 10 days until Master Qual.. what do you think that the workouts are going to be.

I think some sort of a max- Snatch might be the likely candidate.
Repeat of one of last years because HQ likes that. Maybe the Row, HSPU and Double unders with the new standards?
One of the girls workouts? Jackie?
One including burpees and box jumps maybe Heavy deadlift with it..

I have been wrong many or even all times.. this would suit me fine. Good luck with all of the workouts all master athletes.

I could see the regions as they are now used to determine those who qualify for a second stage of online workouts. This would be a qualifier stage similar to the Masters qualifier. Individuals do six workouts in a 72 hour period; teams do six team workouts in the same time period. All WODS are filmed and reviewed. Teen qualifiers would also do these wods to determine who goes on to the Games. Scores as follows- Individuals and Teens: 6 scores from the workouts, 1 from the regional placement in the Open, and 1 from worldwide rank in the Open. Teams- just the six scores.

Absolutely killing me waiting for these workouts. Still 10 days to go. It's like being still in the open for us whereas everyone else has moved onto regionals or looked for a new competition.

Totally agree on the snatch. Last year it was clean, then we had clean & jerk in 15.1. If there going to stick with an oly max my moneys on 1rm snatch. This would rule out Amanda being the repeat workout (even though I am still practising it).
Just been looking over the Open results

Each year there are more and more competitors but more and more questionable results

And this does affect the top athletes

Crossfit are absolutely raking it in from the Open
There is a guy in my region that made regionals last year, and was one of the bottom athletes in almost every workout, struggling on several movements. My coach/owner smoked him. This year, that guy TORCHED the Open, beating my owner in several workouts, including the more gymnastic ones (where this guy is way more built for strength). It's super suspicious, considering my owner's g/f saw him at a comp a few months ago and his build is unchanged from last year, as far as she could tell. Good on him if he improved, but it's so vast, it seems hard to believe. I will be watching that regional very closely to see how he performs.

I looked through the masters workouts that were in previous editions of the Masters Games. Here are some of the events that I think could be in the Masters Qualifier.

2010:
3. Fran: 21-15-9 Thrusters 95, pull ups

2011:
3. 3 RFT: 4 MU, 8 thruster 135

2012:
1. 1RM S2O
3. Row 1K, 30 PC 135, 50 burpee
5. 10 DL 275, 20 pull ups, 30 BJ 24, 40 KB 53, 50 DU, 40 KB 53, 30 BJ 24, 20 pull ups, 10 DL 275
6. AMRAP 2: muscle ups

2013:
4. DL/BJ 21-15-9 DL 275 BJ 30
5. 1RM C&J

2014:
5. Row 1000m, then 5RFT: 25 pull ups & 7 push jerk 135
7. 50 BJ, 25 TTB, 50 WB, 25 RD, 50 WB, 25 TTB, 50 BJ

I eliminated all the ladder events, and events with running, or sleds in them.

I am still hoping for a DL-BJ-HSPU workout.

Out of those masters events, I think these are the most interesting and challenging:

3 RFT: 4 MU, 8 thruster 135
Row 1K, 30 PC 135, 50 burpee
