6:48 Helen

age 19 bw 170
i knocked 1:01 off my previous pr for helen today. i can't believe it. i owe it all to the zone diet. for anyone who is thinking about starting it...just do it. i don't even get everything exact but i just try to follow the principles of it. 5 block meals with 2 block snacks.

the zone is legit!!!

That is an amazing Helen time. Well done. I think I might have to start zoning again because my last 3 Helen times have been about the same.

Well done

Great Helen, but don't neglect the other end of the spectrum...if that 1:01 improvement came as a result of losing 10lbs of lean body mass from not eating enough then your barbell lifts and heavy metcons probably suffered. I can always tell when I've leaned out too much and hurt my strength because I start getting smoked on WODs like Grace.

That is a very fast Helen.

Was this done on a track?

to Eric

i haven't gained a pound in about 2 years. all my power numbers are going up too. i've always been better at the less-heavy met cons but i have been seeing significant improvement in strength since starting the zone.

to justin:

i usually do but this time, because of the rain making the bars on top of the bleachers slippery, i ran from the weight room out to the track and back. it measured out to be about 405 meters, plus touch-and-go and some turns.

That's awesome. I wish there was a pull-up bar at any of the tracks near me. We have a 400m run around the building our affiliate is in, but I'd love a chance to do Helen on a track.

Have you recently timed you 400m time?

No kidding... serious respect!

Would love to see your 400m and mile times... it's the run that get's me in helen. swings are easy and would be easier if I had a KB, and pullups aren't too bad, but that run just destroys my time. And I have a mile time under 6:30 and a 1:07 400m. Not a firebreather, but no slouch either.

Nice work!

You're obviously doing something (or a lot of things, more likely) right....nice work, keep it up.

not recently. in high school my best mile time was 4:42 and my best 400 time was around a :54 (i think). and of course, pretty much all of my track training was doing the main site WOD's
