The one for my year looked just the same as the one she did her first year of doing it and she had about a half dozen burgers on display in the back of the class.

No BS. I am raising the "Truth Flag" here.

That's a good idea. I think every school should do it!!

This is true... I lost a McDonanlds cheese burger in my car for about 6 months. It fell out of a bag, and I keep a filthy car :).

When I found it... it was like I had bought it that day. My wife and I were amazed, and still talk about it.

I think it's the salt, and fat that preserve everything.

I posted these links on a different board, and actually one fellow replied with a pretty intelligent response that much of the preservative effect has to do with low available water (something that's entirely protein and fat will go rancid, but it won't putrefy; think jerky... with the extra fat of ground beef you sure wouldn't want to eat it once the fat went rancid, but it might not rot).

...and I'll buy that to a point. But the bread, cheese, other ingredients? Hm.

Regardless, BS flag or Truth Flag, that is freaking nasty. So I am raising the "Thats Nasty Flag" Justin hit the nail on the head...No nutrutional value. Now I know why I make my own burgers.

FYI my Buffalo Burgers:

Ground buffalo
Green Leaf Lettuce
Gouda Cheese
Red Onions
Pickles
Tomatoes or Avacado
and a little salt, pepper and ketchup
on a toasted ciabatta bread

don't knock it, till you tried it ;)
