The scaling for the teens is ridiculous. A 12" box jump for a 15 yr old girl! :wtf: 10 lb wallballs, and cutting DU reps in half ?!?!

To me it just seems like the games committee doesn't respect the teens, and/or has no idea what an athletic teenager is capable, maybe they should step outside??
seems like they did a fairly good job.

only 2 of the girls out of both the 14/15 and 16/17 y.o. finished wod 4.

and comparing times/scores of the same age brackets and placements between the boys and girls is pretty similar.

I get Scott's point. It does seem like the 14-15's are finishing their wod's "kinda tired" and the 16-17's are "freaking exhausted." The boys in the chipper were throwing that 70# sandbag without a ton of awkwardness, while the ones having to handle the 100# sandbag were really struggling. But, I don't know, maybe there is just a very wide disparity among those two age groups AND within the age groups?? not sure...

I think the liability and potential media backlash of a young teen getting injured is just too much for the Sport to really push them. Maybe that'll change in the future a little but this is the first year so better to err on the side of caution.

been sitting in nicely air conditioned office all day and forgot about the absurd humidity we've been having in soCal this week. must be brutal out there on the field.

I just got access to decent internet - is the team relay airing somewhere right now?

I'm looking for the team relay as well, but there doesn't seem to be a stream yet?

You've got to log in to espn.go.com, go to "event schedule," then "replay." You've find the team event and other events that have already happened there.

*edit*
Sorry. I was referring to event 1, and you were asking about event 2. My mistake.

Team relay event is happening now - and CF Games site just said they won't be streaming it live - http://games.crossfit.com/announcements/team-6-mile-relay-event-will-not-stream-live "TEAM 6-MILE RELAY EVENT WILL NOT STREAM LIVE"

Super lame.

good lord, sydney sullivan 5 for 5 wins

and yeah, :thumbs_do for team relay missing live stream. hopefully they work out any remaining technical difficulties for the rest of the week.

Re: 2015 CrossFit Open, Regionals, and Games Thread

I wondered if the sandbag/wheelbarrow event would be limited to the stadium floor, or if they would go up in the stands like the 2010 event. It looks like they've kept spectators out of those areas of the stands so they can do the event just like 2010.

The stadium is not full on a Wednesday afternoon, so it was good planning to do this event early in the competition.
