Is there a cheep place to buy rings? I looked at rintraining.com but the rings were like 70$ for a set. http://ringtraining.com/store/eliterings.html

Is this the normal price for rings?

Carrie Klumpar 05-19-2007 11:22 AM

Yes, this is a good price.

The three main sources are RingTraining.com, Gill Athletics (http://www.gillathletics.com/GillIte...px?FSID=TA1598), and your local or online vendor of AAI Lexan rings.

Or home-make your own approximation. (Saves money but not time, and will only ever be an approximation.) There are several different recipes for that on this message board.

i've got 2 sets of the Elite Rings and 1 set of Gills rings; you cant go wrong with either set.

definitely worth the $70. i'm all about making my own equipment, but i can't see spending $20, $30 or even more money on equipment (straps, pvc, sand, chain, hooks, etc) to make an inferior product.

just my 2 cents :-)

My Elite Rings are BY FAR one of the best investments I have made as far as equipment goes. Well worth the money, and the return in strength gained is huge. Get em.

I have some Elite Rings from Tyler also - got nothing but praises to sing about him. I dont have experience with other rings providers so can not comment to that end.

elite rings for the win!

no, seriously. a pair of rings will probably last forever, and they are the best pieces of upper-body strength training equipment ever.

IMHO, of course ; )

Thanks for the positive feedback! It's always nice to hear that people appreciate the design details.

Customer service goes a long way to Tyler - you were really good mate. Happy to recommend you for that alone let alone having a good product.

I have a pair of Tyler's rings and they are great. How do you think they would last if they were outside all the time? I live in MN so hot humid and sunny. They would come inside in the winter. Should I get different straps, chain? I know I could take them down, but I want my kids to use them. So I would leave them up.

Tyler Hass 05-20-2007 12:58 PM

Joseph,
They should hold up pretty well for at least 3-5 years. After that, you might want to replace them. If you notice any significant discoloration, that is a good sign that the plastic has degraded. I chose plastics that have a built in UV protectant, but it's never a 100% solution.
Thanks,
Tyler
