Happy Birthday. Killer workout. You should be proud!
Thanks, my friend. Felt so GOOD to (properly) get 65# overhead with something besides a shoulder press. I've heard that gives some such a rush......it's true!! |

Re: The Bassman's Log (Steve Lampl)
Thursday, 12/04/08:
REST DAY. Needed it to recover from the WOD and mis-guided eating. Doctor Visit for R/knee today. Got nothing but the best news about my knee today. New X-rays should no abnormalities, just some adhesions and scar tissue. The cartilage in the knee joint also looked good, so any degeneration which may have been visible in the joint was/is apparently not a factor. I need to continue doing strengthening exercises for the right leg - - the left has somewhat overcompensated. The Dr. is very happy with my exercise routine (CF), including the squats!!! It is recommended, not for the sake of the joint, per-se, but for the safety of the cartilage in the knee, that I not squat ATG any more. Full-depth squats (done per Coach Rip's Rx) according to the Dr. put undue stress on the cartilage, not the knee itself. Squats to 90 deg. or even Dynamax depth do not hurt the cartilage. This is the first time I've heard a Dr. say anything positive about wide-stance, deep (Dynamax depth) squats. But then again, she also has a degree in athletic science/training. Woo Hoo!!!! Made my day! Nutrition: Breakfast: 1 slice veggie quiche (egg, mushroom, spinach, scallions) - approx. 6 Oz 16 Oz coffee w/ creamer, raw sugar Lunch: 2 slices cold, left-over pizza. Dinner: B-Day dinner left-overs 1/2 of a 1/2 pound, lean beef burger Garlic french fries Snack: 1/3 Snickers bar. Water: Approx. 60 Oz. Tomorrow is gonna SUCK! |
