Secret Advice of a Vegan CrossFitter

So I know it's not the most popular mode of nutrition in the CrossFit world, but the fact remains there are a fair number of vegan/vegetarian CrossFitters out there. I recently asked a student/friend/vegan-chef to write an article for BreakingMuscle.com on this topic and I think she did a great write-up. If you know anybody who's considering going vegan or is just feeling outnumbered at your affiliate by the meat-eaters, this is a great article for him/her.

Thanks Becca, great article.

I've just gone veggie (lacto-ovo) in support of my wife's efforts to improve her health. I'm loving it so far and have not suffered any adverse effects in terms of recovery/performance. It's a challenge to change the way we cook but an enjoyable one!

You're welcome! They linked to the article on the Affiliate Blog today, too -- turns out there's some vegan/vegetarian box-owners out there, as well!

As another one of Those Pesky Vegans, it's nice to see a CF-related article promoting my questionable dietary choice. :D

For any other veggies/vegans/omnis out there, I can heartily recommend this set of recipes on Mike Mahler's site (WFS) :

The Coconut Power Shake is especially sexy.

I am trying to act as if I'm going vegan just so i can take interest in greens, what they can do for my mind, performance and my physique. I appreciate the direction.

Daniel --

Glad you enjoyed it! Danette has since posted a second article and will be a regular writer for our site -- she will be posting an article every week and while it won't be front and center about veganism every time, it is definitely a big part of who she is and I think vegans, vegetarians, and healthy eaters of any type will be able to relate to her articles really well.

This link will take you to her two current articles -

And she has one coming up next week on vegan chocolate! Special for Valentine's Day! :)

I'm actually amazed that she is doing so well with her diet the way it is. I'd be interested to hear what and how she would eat if her caloric intake was closer to 4,000 calories vs 2,000.

I can ask her -- I'm wondering, though, are you asking because you're wondering what someone larger than her or someone who is a guy would eat? Or because you think she should be eating 4,000 calories?
