I have been at crossfit for about 3 months now and I got a DEXA scan shortly after starting. I was 6'4" 250lbs and about 32% BF. I have access to a DEXA scan when I want it with out having to shell out the $100 per scan. DEXA also gives your bone density and lean body mass so it will be interesting to see the changes that crossfit is bringing on.

So my question is how often should I get scanned?

How often do you want to know what your BF% is?

I think if you are doing it to monitor your change, every other week would be fine. Much more then that and you will go crazy trying to see changes...kind of like watching a pot of water boil.

Most people I know (including myself) just use how loose their clothing is.

Your pants are a cheap and easy way to notice change without having to measure anything.

True, Im not planning on going all the time. I was thinking of going like every 3 months just to see an overall trend in my body composition.

My pants are getting looser in the waist and tighter on my legs and that has been my indicator of change for the most part.

Heck if I had free access I would scan every month or three.

I have good health coverage and I am never sick so I get about $600 buck worth of labs every six months just to take a look.
