1000m run
100 Push Ups
10 65# Snatches

12:48

This one was done in the Base Globo, Had to run around the basket ball courts and when I finished the run, came to find the bar I planned to use being used by someone else. (The hazards of WODing in a Globo!) It took me off my game. I wasn't happy with my Snatch form which was the whole point of doing 65#! Oh well...

1/31 WOD

4 rounds for total reps:
AMRAP 3:00
3 Power Cleans (95/65)
3 Front Squats (95/65)
3 Toes-to-Bar
REST 3:00 BETWEEN ROUNDS
Coach's Note: Strive for unbroken sets. Third Power Clean should lead straight into the set of front squats.

20 rounds.
Second round 1 toes-to-bar short of 5 rounds, made it up on 4th round. Zach and Rodney went at it in an epic head-to-head battle. Amazing efforts from all the 6 a.m. class!

Re: Over 50 Crossfitters Sign In

2/2 WOD (Saturday)

EMOTM for 20 minutes
10 burpees (odd minutes)
12 wall balls (even minutes)

Like the Rolling Stones sang, you can't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need. And I needed wall balls! Really concentrated on squatting to full depth, throwing ball high enough, catching with both hands close together (to avoid drops), and 12 unbroken. Kept it up pretty good until about the 14th or 16th minute, then a little sloppiness crept in. Toward the end it was difficult just mustering the power to get the ball high enough.

Wall ball sets took about 35 seconds, leaving 25 seconds for rest, whereas the 10 burpee sets took about 45 seconds, not leaving so much time for rest. All burpees straight through.

2/3 workout
Crossfit Total at Globogym

BS 245-255(f)-250(f)
Press 115-125-135
Deadlift 295-305(f)-305
Total 685

10# off my PR, lost it all on BS. BS at 255 collapsed at depth target. 250 actually went up, but I did not hit my depth target so no rep. Depth targets are weird since I am so focused on hitting them I sometimes lose focus on the bar on my back. Probably better just to know where full depth is by feel and then remain focused on bar.

Took some time off from the gym and hit the outdoors. Over a two week period, had six ski days and some snowshoeing. I really enjoyed the diversion but was really ready to be back in the gym this morning.

Warmup: Row 800m; Abmat sit-ups; hip and shoulder flexibility; shoulder press 45 X10/ 60, 75 X5/ 90 X3
Lift: Shoulder press 100, 115, 130 X5

Claw - Yay! Burpees!! Awesome on those EMOTM Wall Balls & that CrossFit Total!! (Even more at a Globo!)

"The Other" Bill H - Nice Sunday WOD!

Alden - Glad you're enjoying the Winter! It's one of the reasons we CrossFit!

WU:
~200m run

~40ft:
Walking Lunges
Sumo Squats
Spiderman Walks
Inch Worms (2 Push Ups)
High Knees (2)
Butt Kickers (2)

For 7 min, EMOTM:
1 75# Power Snatch
1 75# OHS
1 75# Squat Snatch

WOD:
3 RFT:
15 Right Hand 35# Dumbbell Snatch
15 GHD Sit-Ups
15 Left Hand 35# Dumbbell Snatch

I was worried about the right handed Dumbbell Snatches since my right shoulder was hurting me.They went pretty smoothly, which surprised me! Around 13 min was pretty much what people were completing the WOD in. The last round's TTB were brutal!! Took me 4 subsets!! Tough WOD!!

2/5 WOD
"Filthy Fifty"
For Time:
50 Box Jumps (24")
50 Jumping Pullups
50 Kettlebell swings (1pd)
50 Walking lunge
50 Knees-to-elbows (ALJ*)
50 Push Press (45#)
50 Back Extensions
50 Wall Ball Shots (20#) (ALJ*)
50 Burpees
50 Double Unders

23:51.
Over 4 minute PR since last time, which was a while ago. Pleased with that. As usual, wall balls -> burpees seemed to take an eternity. Double unders went well despite my fatigue, which was positive.

* ALJ = "A Little Janky," from Crossfit One World ("I used it the other night when a person doing the 150 push-up/shuttle run workout had more than a few reps that were definitely not legit. When he told me his time, I wrote "A lil' janky".") (WFS) http://crossfitoneworld.typepad.com/crossfit_one_world/2013/02/scaled-rxd-and-alj.html

Re: Over 50 Crossfitters Sign In

2/6 WOD

A1. Deadlift, 3-5 reps, TnG, 4 sets, 1:30 rest
A2. HSPU (strict), AMRAP-1, 4 sets, 1:30 rest
225#/5 reps, 225/6, 245/4, 255/5.

Wasn't really warmed up for first set of deadlifts at 225 so did second set. Otherwise, deadlifts felt good. HSPU's went well too. Pleased I increased my max reps from first to second sets. Increase on fourth set because I took off my weighlifting shoes so the leather did not catch on the wall as I went up.

B. Suicide sprints (10m, 20m, 30m), 6 sets, 2:00 rest
29 seconds, 30, 31, 32, 32, 32.

Holy crap these were hard! Felt like puking for about an hour afterward. Ran in between Mike Mac and Francie in my heat who really pushed me. Honestly can say I left nothing in the tank for any of these runs.

Once again, huge 6 a.m. class full of firebreathers. Watching Cody and Tobin go at it head to head on the suicide sprints was epic. Seemed like everybody was inspired to go b@lls out on these runs. Good times! Link to whiteboard (WFS): http://www.flickr.com/photos/93561498@N00/8450516423

2/6
Warmup: Row 800m; hip, SI joint, shoulder and t-spine mobility
Workout: Dumbbell bear complex (20# DB)
Every minute on the minute, do:
5 DB deadlifts
5 hang power DB cleans
5 DB thrusters
15:00

Next time I'll go heavier; even in the last sets, I was able to rest for about 15 seconds before starting the next set. Legs are definitely protesting the workout. I found some muscles that deadlifts and skiing don't apparently hit. ;)

Nice! It is awesome watching your kids move to adulthood with their own interests and skills.

JJ - Good on you for making the effort to make the play. As hard as it was to make it to soccer games, piano recitals and school events when my kids were younger, I miss those days. And they will remember. The good, the bad and the ugly.... I've been reminded of all those times I failed the "effective parenting test."

2/8 Bench
Warmup: 45 X10, 90, 110 X5, 135 X3
Lift: 145, 165 X5, 190 X4
The time off (and the skiing) put a dent in some of my lifts. Missed the 5th rep; if I can't catch up on the next workout, I'll reset.

2/10 Box back squats (12" box)
Warmup: 45 X10, 90, 110 X5, 135 X3
Lift: 145, 165 X5, 190 X2 :(
Did damage to myself on the dumbbell bear workout a few days ago. Legs and butt was so sore could barely sit on the toilet. Quads are still sore 4-5 days later. Squats will definitely require a reset...

2/8 workout

Skied my legs off in epic Big Bear powder snow. (FWIW, "epic Big Bear powder" is a phrase I never thought I would utter.)

2/9 workout

Almost skied my legs off in epic Big Bear softpack, but got hungry and decided a couple beers sounded better than more skiing. Also, spent two days avoiding copkiller Christopher Dorner who was supposedly hiding out in Big Bear over the weekend.

I am continuing not to understand my GoPro very well. I did manage to video about 15 seconds worth of flat skiing (WFS): http://youtu.be/vl8W8hRgMJQ

2/11 WOD

A. Squat Snatch. 1:1:1, 10sec rest, 5 sets, 2:00 rest between sets
75-75-85-85-85
Kept it light so I could work on actually catching the bar in the squat. Malzone suggested engaging my lats more to keep the bar closer to my body on the pulls. Worked so well I busted off an old shin scar and bled like a stuck pig on the right-hand platform until I used a "CPC Bandage" (toilet paper wad held in place with athletic tape). That's Elite, baby!

B. 4 rounds:
400m run
AMRAP Kipping Pullups
rest 3:00
19:05 and 60 pull ups.
Splits were 2:30/20 pull ups; 2:30/16; 2:34/14; 2:31/15. Felt good, although I was surprised how much gas the runs took, I was expecting about 30 pull ups my first round.
2/8 workout

Skied my legs off in epic Big Bear powder snow. (FWIW, "epic Big Bear powder" is a phrase I never thought I would utter.)

Claw - I'm envious! We've been wishing for most of the season that CA would send some of your snow our way. Especially when we heard that some of the resorts there had gotten so much snow they had to close to move snow while we were looking at grass and rocks.

2/11
Warmup: Straddle hops; hip and shoulder mobility; deadlifts 45 X10/ 120, 145 X5/ 175 X3; watch guy do curls in the squat rack

Cashout:
75# suitcase carry X 50m (alternating arms) X 3 rounds
52# KB swings X3X20

Went to Tribal for a crossfit WOD (I know, how unusual).

We had an instructor in leading the group in active stretching.

7X1 Clean from the box and Jerk on last rep. Stopped at 185.

EMOM for 12 minutes:

10 KB 73# (scaled to 53#)
60 yard sprint.

Got in 4 rounds. Could not keep up with the running.
