Olive Oil
 
In need of some advice if possible about olive oil.

Is olive oil or extra virgin olive oil best used for cooking/stir frys?
I have read different things about extra virgin oilve oil & that if you use it for cooking/stir frys it turns to the bad fats & should only be used as a dressing??

I have used the search, but cant find anything about this

"olive oil" is extra virgin olive oil (evoo) diluted with another oil.

I would also say cooking and stir frying are two different methods and require different oils. Olive oil has a relative low smoke point in other words, it will burn over higher heat. Its great for low heat cooking though. I use bacon grease if I want something higher heat. Research smoke points for oils and you should come up with a list of different oils and their appropriate cooking temperatures.

I think typically people use high heat for stirfrys. To get around that, I will cook my veggies with a little water in the pan until they are almost finished, and then i reduce the heat and add a mixture of evoo, peanutbutter, soy sauce, and a little red wine.

I think avocado oil has a higher flash point if you are looking for an alternative.

Rapeseed is canola and he who need not be mentioned says olive oil is better.

Probably not, have you tried coconut oil?
