I've got just a few questions for fabricating dip bars and pull up bars.

1. How far out from the wall do you take the pull up bar? I'm thinking 36" is good enough.
2. How wide is the pull up bar? Is 36" good here?
3. How far apart would you make the dip bars?

One last one. I am hanging rings from the ceiling (through eye bolts) How far apart would you go here?

Thanks for any replies.

David - I suppose 36" is far enough away from the wall, but I would want a longer bar, personally. Dip bars should be about 1 cubit apart.

So how about 36" away from the wall with a 48" bar?

And what is a cubit?

Riiiight.

Type "1 cubit in feet" into google. Google knows all.

According to google...

1 cubit = 45.72 centimeters

The rings must be 50cm apart. See this WFS wikipedia link:

A cubit is the length of your forearm, from elbow to outstretched fingers. Different for everybody, but it makes a pretty good width for dipping.

Kristin. I did google cubit, but I saw several numbers for cubit. See wikipedia.

Thanks for the reply Tim. Neat measurement there.

Do most folks go with the standard width on the rings given in that article (50cm)?
