Hey ya'll. I just got my salmon siening purse rings from in the mail. They're awsome. They look to be about the same size (maybe a hair bigger?) than the gymnastics rings I've seen. The plastic ones I ordered are nice and light, so I can travel with 'em, and pretty stout. I just gotta hit them with some light sandpaper to get a little of the slickness outta them, then go to REI for some nylon strapping and some line, and I'll be in like Flynn!

Thanks for the reply, Ken. So are they gonna be bomb-proof?

Ken Thynes 05-21-2005 03:21 PM

Yeah. When I was salmon fishing in high school and when I got outta the Corps, The rings were one part of the net that was constantly dragged over mud and rock bottom by two big-assed diesel powered boats, and held a net with up to 80,000 lbs of salmon shut at the bottom. If they can handle that, they should be able to handle anything a crossfitter can dish out.

If not, get the 3/4" thick stainless rings!

Ordered some last night.

These are great, thanks for the tip Ken!

Exactly what size? the 8" plastic? I am not very familiar with gymnastics rings, so Seamar has given me too many options.

James R. Climer 06-01-2005 12:32 PM

Yup, 8 inch diameter.

BTW, cost me $40.00 delivered to central coast California. Still awaiting arrival though.
