Hello everyone, this is my first post & I have a question. First let me tell you that I have only been doing CF for a month but I love it so far. I can do the entire CF warm up but usually I have to tone down the WOD, especially if it involves OLY lifts as I am not accustomed to doing those. Anyway, I have an injured ankle & will be having surgery done sometime in the near future. I will have to be on cruches with a "boot" on my ankle for approx. 6 weeks. My question is, is there any good routines for just the upper body that I can do while having to stay off of my ankle or even some exercises that I can do to work out my legs even while resting my ankle?

Hey James,
Welcome to Crossfit! Were I in your position, I would get a pair of rings and use this time to focus on gymnastics work. I received my rings just days before injuring my hand but I can tell you that what little time I had on them was HUMBLING. Maybe some of the more advanced gymnasts can chime in here but I believe if you advance in progressions, you'll be doing some fairly intense contractions of your lower body.

I'd also work on Kettlebell swings. Done properly, there is significant work of your posterior chain. Other KB movements will be great for developing upper body strength and accuracy.

Don't sweat too much about what you can't do. Whatever your legs lose during your time off will come back to you much more quickly than it came the first time.

Thanks John, I'll look into getting some rings. I just need a place to put them but after that I'll be good to go.
