Back to the Dog Days with Ray Lewis

A good article on how Ray Lewis manages to keep going strong after 13 years in the pros:

Ha, I've done that.

I wonder how close to mini-camp or training camp he trains in sand. The biomechanical specificity is a bit different on sand than on whatever turf the Ravens use.

That man is my favorite player for how aggressive he is on the football field, how hard he hits people, the fact that he gives it his all on every play, and the fact that he always finds a way to be around the ball. On top of that the Ravens are my team.

Thanks for posting that article.

Justin, who cares? He's probably in the best condition of anyone when season training starts, and he's still fast enough and strong enough to get in on just about as many tackles as anyone else on the field, and make big plays. He even answers your point in the article "football isn't played on no machine." He obviously isn't worried about having perfect mechanics, but rather on having great conditioning and strength that allow him to perform.

I caught a brief interview on him on ESPN not long ago, and I think its his mindset that keeps him at the top of his game. Very inspiring individual... probably the hardest working individual in the game today.

It's crazy too when you see a highlight reel of Lewis sniffing out some play - the entire defense could be mislead one way, and then you see Ray Lewis going the other and makes the jawdropping hit. Lots of respect for that guy!

Someone who has studied biomechanics and exercise physiology would care. I posed a question based on curiosity, not patronizing his training method.

Yeah, no ****, I agree. Take it easy...

One thing I can't get over is the fact that he only eats Fish! How can a man that badass only eat fish!?!?

And I'm not looking for an answer here, just saying that's rare...
