I have a question about shoes for women? I realize that running shoes aren't ideal, but I have had a hard time finding "lifting shoes" for women. Does anyone have any advice for me to find a good pair of (beginning) lifting shoes? By the way, .. my foot is 6 women's, so most men's shoes don't come in that size.
thanks for all your help as I am getting started in cross fit!

Re: shoes?
Any sneaker/shoe without a cushion-ee sole and heel will do I believe. I either use a flat sneaker, like a converse all star...or usually I go barefoot.

Re: shoes?
Wait, what kind of shoe are you looking for, a weightlifting shoe or a shoe to lift weights in?

Re: shoes?
I called Glen Pendlay are Witcha Falls Weightlifting. I would say call him or contact another weightlifting shoe distributor and talk to them about shoes that fit your Nike size 6. Also, Catalyst Athletics sells a shoe that many people highly recommend. It is one of the least expensive shoes out there. But, be prepared to send them back a time or two to get the perfect fit.

Re: shoes?
I like the adidas weightlifting shoes. I have the Iron works 2 and I've trained in their competition shoe. I prefer deadlifting in wrestling shoes or vibrams.

Re: shoes? (WFS) - here are a few. Most of the guys and girls at the Oly lifting club I go to are wearing Adidas (Adistars or Ironstars) I had a hard time finding them in in Canada. I own the Do-Win Rogues (WFS) and am very happy with them.

Re: shoes?
I get shin splints, so if there is any chance of running or plyometrics, I have to wear my regular running shoes. For heavy lifts, I just kick them off and go barefoot. That isn't ideal, either, but it's better than the squish of running shoes.

I guess the question is are looking for weightlifting shoes for specifically weightlifting workouts or for Crossfit workouts. For Crossfit, you need a more general shoe that you can run in. IMO, it's not really worth it to get weightlifting shoes unless you're planning to do a lot of weightlifting beyond Crossfit. (I only clarify because this is the Newbie section and some people may think you need weightlifting shoes for a Crossfit WO)

If you do need weightlifting shoes, Adidas make them as small as a men's 4 which would fit you. (and being such a small size, you can probably even find them on sale) I wear a women's 8 1/2 or 9 and men's 7 in Adidas fit me perfectly. They do run narrow tho'.

I understand Do-Wins are a lot wider and they go down to a 3 1/2. Power FirmPLEASE ENSURE YOU ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE.custom makes shoes so they'll be guaranteed to fit. (I'm not thrilled with the aesthetics tho'). Nike RomaleosPLEASE ENSURE YOU ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE., produced for the Olympics, look awesome and have gotten rave reviews from people who snagged a pair. They're mostly sold-out but they still have the very small sizes that would fit you. And I haven't read about anyone trying them but BotevPLEASE ENSURE YOU ANNOTATE ALL LINKS WHETHER WORK AND FAMILY SAFE. is a new player and they have lots of neat color combinations. (they have pink!, if I wasn't so happy with my Adidas, I'd be sooooo tempted to get some)
