11/22/08

Today was a big day. Ever since I beat Vinny's time in 'Fran' i've been looking forward to the next time...and beating him again!!!

Today we did Fran. Vinny's wife was there...there was a pretty good group and we were all fired up and ready to go.

Vinny's best time prior to today was 5:38...Mine was 5:03. I though there was no way in hell he was going to bet me. We both PR'd but get this...his time was 4:21GOOD LORD!! What a monster!!! My time - 4:49. PR by 14 seconds so I guess I can't be too upset. This is why we love CrossFit. The minute you think you got it all figured out somebody comes along and kicks you in the pills.

Great job Vinny!! I'm gunning for you!!
Great job for both of you setting new Fran PRs!

keep it up!
:highfive:

11/24/08

I don't usually post skill days but today I planned on doing the MCCF Warmup and some MU and pistol practice.

I could not BELIEVE how close I was to my first MU today. I got all the way up to the middle of the transition and my elbows just kind of got away from me. I couldn't believe how close I was though. Makes me think that it's only a matter of time now.

I can't wait!

Cleans

1 - 162
1 - 172 (F)
1 - 172
1 - 192 (LOL)
1 - 182 (F)
1 - 182
1 - 187 (F)

Weighted Pullups

1 - 28
1 - 33
1 - 36
1 - 38
1 - 49 (PR)
1 - 50 (PR)
1 - 60 (F)

PR is kind of silly as I'm still losing weight. Also on a few of them the height was iffy. I mean I got there but might have used a little bit of body english.

I also jogged lightly 400 M for no apparent reason.

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

25 SDHP 1.5 Pood KB
25 Towel Jumping Pullups
25 Sandbag DL's 55#
25 Parallette Dips

11/27/08

Ran in the turkey trot yesterday...times weren't posted til today.

My time (5k) 27:10.
Have to subtract at least a minute from that though because it took forever for me to get to the starting line.

Anyway...good times...and 4 minutes better than my last 5 K in May.

Jason David 11-28-2008 08:50 PM

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

11/28/08

Front Squat

10 - 45
7 - 95
5 - 135
3 - 185
1 - 225 (PR)
1 - 230
1 - 235
1 - 240
1 - 245
1 - 245
1 - 245

I guess they were all PR's...last 1 RM was 220 but haven't done it in a while. Must have a lot to do with form since my front squat has gone up and my back squat has pretty much stayed the same since I started CF...

AMRAP in 15 Minutes

10 Med ball cleans 20#
10 GHD situps
10 Pushups

9 rounds

Weighed in Today...BW 180 on the nose.

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

12/02/08

AMRAP in 20 mins.

5 Clean 135#
10 KB swings 1.5 pood
15 Med ball pushups?

11 rounds + 2 cleans

Med ball pushups were weird...vinny just kind of invented them today when we were thinking about what to do. If anybody has done these let me know. but it's weird because you have to keep your balance and keep your hands from sliding down. We use everlast med balls instead of dynamax. they're a little smaller and a bit more firm.

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

12/03/08

Ugly day today...don't know if I've been going too hard or that yesterday was over 50 cleans of 135# but today was deadlift day and I was not good...

Here's how it looked

Deadlift

10 - 134
7 - 184
5 - 225

3 - 275
3 - 295
3 - 305 (F)

Did not attempt the other sets. Back didn't feel right. Strength wasn't there. Mental toughness wasn't there. Don't know what the dilleo was. I'm going to chalk it up as a bad day. Last time I had a rough day like this was deadlift day too...owell. I thought I was getting better at these suckers.

I may try some (deadlifts) on friday but not sure. I am taking a scheduled off week next week. My last week off was beginning of September and I don't to 50% weeks. I think i'm going to finish out the week though with some intervals. We'll see.

Nice job Jason! I've had nightmares about this one! Never tried it since burpees and PUs are BOTH weaknesses!!

'Lynne'

Running out of gas a bit on the heels of my rest week. Was kind of looking forward to doing this as I haven't benched since August.

Anyway...My previous PR was 77

B PU BW 180. Previous BW was 195.
1 10 20
2 9 15
3 7 15
4 6 15
5 6 9

38 74 112 Total

PR by 35 reps. Seems good but I don't think i went 100% today.

Monster Lynne, JD!

Hope your back is okay -- laying tile for 3 days (when you do not ordinarily do that kind of thing) is going to take a toll.

Give us pictures when the job is done.

best-

Back after it after a week off. Shoulder are about the only thing that has not improved for me since starting CF. Mainly due to my own neglect. Need to start dedicating more time to them - 1st ever CFT my press was 155. Barely got 144 up today...

1-1-1-1-1
3-3-3-3-3
5-5-5-5-5

142-157(F)152(F)142-144

132-152-157-162-172

152-162-167-170(F)162

Failed on the last rep of 5 on the 4th set of PJ's.

Awesome OHS #'s JD.

You are way past me on those. My shoulder flexibility is terrible. basically, if I am not strong enough to stay back on my heals, I lose it forward - every time.

Also excellent work on the SP, PP, PJ Wod!

keep it up.

Thanks Sean!

My shoulders haven't been 100% in a while. The 155 was tough but I could've gone higher. I've gone as high as 180 - current bodyweight, but haven't done them in months. My shoulders and OHS have been neglected...needed to change that.

Christin Street 12-15-2008 05:42 PM

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

Nce OHS and weighted PUs, JD! Do you clean them or pull from the rack overhead. Just curious. I rarely do them since my globo doesn't allow dumping and I think ya gotta be able to lose the bar in OHS. Yet another reason to get to a CF gym more regularly.

For time:

50 Wall balls (20#)
Row 1000 meters (4:23.2)
30 wall balls
Row 500 meters (2:16)
20 wall balls

23:05

Almost got the MU today...right at the top of the transition and then fell down...UGH!!! I'm right there. I think I would've gotten it if i would've taken a pee before the try :)

Awesome, JD!

It is so cool - but watch it again and look at your expression when you kipped into the transition, the expression on your face changed when your head was through and your chest was over your hands because you knew you had it!

great work!

Negative, Ghostrider, the pattern is full.
I'm getting the MRI tomorrow. I don't have my follow-up appt with the Orthopedic surgeon until early January, but I am guessing that surgery is imminent. I will, of course, get a second opinion, but there is no way this thing is "normal."

Even with an active recovery and rehab, there is now way I'd be ready for qualifiers, let alone the Games when the time comes. I do plan to try to make it out there as a spectator or volunteer.

Re: JD's CrossFit Chronicle

12/23/08

I've had a pretty good week...PR on the squat, muscle up and also doing a lot more main page WOD's.

135 lb Squat clean, 10 reps
50 GHD Sit-ups
135 lb Squat clean, 8 reps
40 GHD Sit-ups
135 lb Squat clean, 6 reps
30 GHD Sit-ups
135 lb Squat clean, 4 reps
20 GHD Sit-ups
135 lb Squat clean, 2 reps
10 GHD Sit-ups

19:55.

Felt good, other than bashing my collar bone on some of the squat cleans. I think this stems from slow elbows...going to do some research on that momentarily,.
