Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
100819 THURSDAY
Physical Therapy Day. Warm-up on the stationary cycle for 10:00. Piriformis stretch: 30 seconds X 2 (each side) Lateral 6# med ball toss - - face forward, balance on one slightly bent leg, the other trailing; catch ball in the transverse plain to opposite side of trailing leg, facing forward and return it to PT. 10 reps X 1 each side. These are HARD! Still can't balance on foam pad, have to stand on solid floor. Lateral (side) stretches (in cage); 30 seconds each side X 2. Reach over top of head (staying in frontal plane) to stretch hip/IT band. Transverse stretch (in cage) 30 seconds X each side X 2. Reach around to opposite side, torso facing forward. Feel stretch in IT, hip flexors, and glutes. Finish up with functional strength reassessment: Lie prone on table, knee of leg being tested bent at 90 degrees and held up off table, sole of foot pointed and pressing slightly upwards to ceiling. As PT presses down on foot, do not allow foot/leg to move downward toward table. Results: Left leg (glutes) much weaker than right and found to be at grade 4+. More strengthening work is in my future, I am afraid! No time for a workout today.......but even though it caused less soreness than any time previously, I consider the PT to have been a good substitute. |
Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
Steve, did I read correctly that you are up to 25 double-unders? That's awesome. This uncoordinated soul is still at 1 in a row. Does 1 qualify as a row??? Good workouts man!

Yeah, I missed that double under achievement. Congratulations! You are inspiring me to take another crack at those darn things.

For me, those were actually more difficult than trying to get DUs.....never could get past more than one single-double. :pepper: 100825 WEDNESDAY Been away from the boards for several days, but have been doing a functional workout just about every day. I have been building the "shelves from Hades" - - full-height (almost 11 feet) and nearly the length of one of our garage walls (18')...... I've gotten one heck of a workout simply moving stuff around, let alone packing home all the wood to build this monstrosity. 12 half sheets of particle board (carried two at a time) get heavy quickly. Thank you, CrossFit! |

More physical therapy today. Coming along well- less pain in the SI joints and definite glute/hamstring improvement too. Glad I'm almost done building the shelves - what a workout! |

I think I would be better off to add a whole new garage than go through the shelf building and organizing. I have a system - honest. LOL I hate to throw anything away - I might need it someday. Hey Laurie, Thanks! It's going to be a "mother bear" for me when I get back at WODding with some focus.....painful AND it's going to be U G L Y! Have a blast at the Oly Cert this weekend. Can't decide which one I want to go to next - - Lifting or Rowing.....or the Movement and Mobility. Take care! Steve |

Tony
You are so correct on both counts, Tony. We've often thought about having a garage sale........only problem is where we are going to get another one.....:D |
Re: Steve's "I'm not aging quietly" log
100828 SATURDAY - - (Another) REST DAY
Completed the big garage shelf project - - still a bit sore from using the shelves as scaffolding or a jungle-gym at times. Now......to load them (more functional workouts and heavy lifting). Planning to get back into the CF gym this next week and start ramping it up again. I also plan to start checking back in on everyone's logs! |
