Yep, youcan't PR all the time, but now you know that 305 is no problem. Maybe you knew that already... anyways, that's my strategy today-to tell myself that 305 is no problem.

So, one of the ideas from that Brad Johnson book is to take a section of 2x4, balance it on top of a golf ball and try to do pushups on the 2x4.

I brought a section of 2x4 to work with me today. Hope I still have all my teeth this afternoon!
:D

I did 2 sets of 10 reps, I pulled the shifter ball off our forklift. It went pretty well, it doesn't roll arround as muckh as I thought it would, just really unstable. 10 reps was almost all I could do. You gotta try it.

lunch, muscleup work and hand stand practice, some paralette work, l sit to almost a hand stand, I get wobbley when my feet go up and I went over .

I got 4 in a row of muscleups, first one from a standing position, other 3 arms bent a little at the bottom, not full ext at the bottom. true full ext in false grip still eludes me. got a few sets of 3 reps, a few sets of 2reps.

oh and 2 sets of 10 reps pushups on a 2x4 board on a ball. golf ball size, well a little bit bigger.

You are awesome!! Very cool. I just did 10. Definitely a different feeling in the front of my upper chest!
He said in the book to move the ball over to one side or another for variety. lol You can work your way to an unstable one arm pushup with that. Cool stuff.

Re: Nik

With regards to the bench yeah Id work low reps, maybe 3s and work up to say no more than 6-8 sets. On the DL front just ramp up to a top end, today I only had 2 lifts over 90% but I managed to almost equal a long standing pb of 232kg without deadlifting heavy for nearly a year. Happy with that :)

Nope, just real busy today, 10:00 was figuring out how to get 4 people through the workout in an hour with limited equipment, and playing arround with bench. Thanks for asking though.

OK bisnuess. Great day today. Oh and I met pukey for the fist time, just a little bit from the squats.

Five rounds for max reps of:
Body weight bench press
Pull-ups
Body weight back squat

Post reps for all three exercises in all rounds
Weight used was 165lbs my bodyweight.
bench:15,10,7,5,7 total 44reps
pullups:41,23,21,22,16 total 123reps
squats:19,9,11,11,13 total 63reps

Great job nik! Especially on the crapload of pullups! Lynne usually takes me close to the edge of pukie so i can imagine how u felt after this one. I took the day off cuz my softball game finished late last night and I was just too tired this morning. But will give this one a shot tomorrow. Is it ur turn to come up with the challenge?

Thanks, it is a tough one with the squats, totally different animal. I was breathless from the pullups going into the squats. It was really hard to get my head right in the squats. them being last in the workout made them suffer.

i think it is my turn, but I will probably pass on it. I have never programmed a workout let alone a challenge. And the one idead I had we just pretty much did today. I was thinking of 3 to 5 round of 30reps pullups and like 10 reps deadlift wih 175/185, and maybe 10 setps weighted lunges each leg. But today killed that idea. I'll hit up Scott and probably pass it on.

Fantastic work Nik and almost 20 BW squats!! Welcome to the pukie club, had my first one at the competition at the weekend, not too bad just water.

Im dong the squats and bench portions today as the weights area was ridiculous last night, the Chelmsford Bench n Chat Club was in the gym. Great how a squat rack can double for a comfortable seating area.

WOW! :yikes: Awesome Job with that workout Nik, 41 pullups!!!!! The only part of that workout that I could do well on would be the Back Squat, my pullup reps wouldn't even be half of yours. :notworth:

AWESOME!! I can't believe these numbers, Nik.. you rock!!
the pullup numbers are amazing! and 19BW squats? no wonder pukie came to see you!
did you rest in between sets or just between rounds? Just wondering becuase that was my problem when I did the frontsquat/deadlift/benchpress/deadhang workout similar to this. Now I want to try again with the rest in there and see what I can do!! :kicking0:

Thanks Marianne, it was fun, I was ready for the pullups, I just wanted to beat 30 reps.
We wnt from one exercize to the next, with little rest, and longer rest inbetween rounds. It was tough, but good. You should give it a try.

WEEKLY CHALLENGE

1 MILE: Carrying half your BW (can be sandbag, bumpers, dirt, your other half or anything at the weight) travel for 1 mile. If you put the object/s down at any point you must perform 5 burpees before continuing.

For fewest round and fastest time.

I'm 165lbs, I will carry 80lbs, I will be using a 30lbs vest and barbell with 2.5lbs plates.

Good luck.

I will probably use a 95lb sandbag. No running though, will all be very brisk walking :p

Re: Nik
Good job nik? Was it punishing on ur body or just weird with all the weight? Did ur arms go numb with the bar on ur traps?
I didn't want to put it down for a few reasons, I boasted to Scott I wouldn't need to do burpees, and I didn't want to spend the time still.

It was hard on my shoulders, right inbetween the shoulder blades. I carried it in highbar squat position for the most part. I would drop one arm when it got unbareable, and switched back anf forth from shoulder to shoulder till it got bareable.

I ran as much as I could, walked when I wanted to put it down, ran some more. I also streched my arms out to the plates, but didn't think much of it, I was just trying to move my arms as much as I could. No numbness.
It gets heavy on the traps after a wile, but if you move it arround it gets better fast.

I would get to a point to stop running and want to put it down, but I woud keep walking and it would ease up.

It was fun. You will be suprised with it. It is cool to put crossfit to practical aplication. I will not clean and jerk someone away from a car wreck, or to safty. I will pick them up and go. And at 80 lbs I can go for a wile, I now know that.

PS. Form check, I had to really resist the temtation to bend over under the weight when I got tired. I forced myself to stand up straight a few times. Keep that in mind.
